2k will get you a clean uk classic, and there are tonnes out there for simple fact nobody wants petrol turbos, they all want diesels in this day n age. Mx5 prices are overinflated as its the latest scene toy seeing as all good 200sx are no longer

Dont need 'years of experience driving mx5s' to see current trend for rwd enthusiasts, and prices rising cause of it. And yep i have driven an mx5 owned by a mate, a mk2 rs with the diff and 6speed, i just think pricing of cars is overinflated currently

fella wants to buy an impreza. Its like me telling him to go by a mk2 golf 16v cause they are smashing cars both on and off track cause ive do so for years but thatd be pointless as he wants an impreza

I bought my v3 sti, completely standard when I bought it, fsh with import papers etc, 1 owner in uk with less that 60k on the clock half of which was km, £1895, over a year later and I have not had to spend a single penny on anything other than modifying it, the car is perfect, people on here don't like to admit it much but it's not as though classic Impreza's are worth much these days, there are lot's of decent classics for around or under 2k and you really don't even have to look that hard, I think alot of people are too hung up on silly things and forget how old and cheap they are and expect too much, Saying you should save and spend 4k on an Impreza is rediculous imo, like saying dont buy a classic as they are all too cheap and fucked, obviously not the case. The bloke said he wanted to spend 2k on an impreza, why should he HAVE to spend more, classics are peanuts!

Mate, ive been driving the classics for over 12 years now. There are good ones and ones that will look alright on the outside but look deeper under the skin
Be realistic, a 15 year old car. can you check all the areas needed to be looked over before throwing your money down a dark hole. Or will indeed the op have these looked at before committing his hard earned 2k......

I rest my case

Personally that looks ok for the money, mileage is not really relevant on a car that old, if it runs well and sounds good then chances are it is good, there is no telling how long it would last even if it had half the miles so it's not worth getting hung up on things like that imo, seen plenty with twice the mileage that go just aswell and sound just as strong as mine makes me laugh really reading half the advice on these threads, Impreza owners trying their hardest to tell people they are sh1te and don't last long and not worth buying unless your willing to pay over the odds If your confident you know what you are looking at and know your way around a car then you shouldn't end up with a lemon, if not then take someone who does know what to look for

What is your case? All cars can be hiding something, so what? Doesn't mean everyone should go out and find an overpriced car does it? Being realistic yes you can look over all the areas needed if you knew where to look, I do it almost daily for people as part of my work Whether you like it or not you can get a really good classic for under 2k, I did and still have it and last time it was mapped my mapper even commented on how clean it was and how strong my engine is, Classics are peanuts and on that note I rest my case

Sometimes you can be lucky and get a great car
My Greenwagon is 12 this month and I've had it since new and a fan belt and new battery and alarm bracket and sticking pistons on the front rhs brake is the only thing in the 12 years and 60k miles since getting it new

These classics are built to last only things to look out on a standard one ,if you can find one is the rust on the rear arches which will eventually need cut out and replaced on them

Plenty of 18/19 year old classics knocking around from £1000 -£2000
Suggest to the op you join a couple of local clubs and forums as their is always a odd one for sale from a club member and others can vouch on it too . Rather then search through eBay
Spend your time reading p on the different modles and look at potential problems and always have a bit of cash in reserve and joining a local club will get you the knowledge of cheap suppliers and reputable garages
At the NBO 10 there will be lots of stunning examples

The question was legit and he only wanted to know about Imprezas under 2k.
Answer it or dont, but atleast dont post irrelevant comments.

Post up something relevant to what the op asks in the thread starter. Lets see your response ? Remembering of course this is (scoobynet general discussion)

Personally if it was me I would not want to buy a 20 year old wrx for say 2 grand when I could get a 5 year old one for around the 5 grand mark

The op wants clearly to be fighting rust during his weekends or tinkering with it in some way

However he has chosen to never be seen on here again so cant reply to you in person

I wouldn't touch an Impreza under 2K, they will need attention sooner or later
And they won't be cheap to fix.
