Car insurance/tax is a joke

I have been riding for a good many years and always look forward to getting the bike out on a nice day.
I dont think a 125 cc machine is any safer than a powerful machine. Its as ever the way you ride it that counts. You dont have to wind it up to incredible speeds at every opportunity and you have to develop a deep suspicion of people waiting at road junctions.
Nothing like experiencing the outstanding acceleration of a decently powerful bike and traffic jams are comparatively little trouble. I personally also enjoy the cornering bit, I always have good tyres and I don't push my luck on slippery roads.
Tell us how much you are enjoying it once you are established.

You will not regret it once you have got the hang of it.

Hoping to have my CBT done next weekend and start my lessons the following! Well looking forward to it. I have been looking at Kawasaki ZXR 400's and really like the look of them plus they seem well reviewed.

I've been riding for over 20 years now and have only had 1 "proper" accident 2 months after i first started (car pulled out of side road - fractured leg/foot/ankle/broken collar bone) - it never made me want to give up and i'm glad i didn't.
These last few years i don't find it as much fun to ride so only go out on nice dry days (i know i'm soft) and have changed from sports bikes to more "comfy" ones as top speed doesn't matter these days with all the cameras/ idiots on the roads.
Befor you get a 400 check the insurance as when i bought a CBR600 it was cheaper to buy and insure than 400s as most of them were imports so had a loading on them - a ZX6 would probably be cheaper to buy?
My latest - Triumph Street Triple R

The 400s are a great place to start and learn a lot. They are fast enough but because they are small and low centre of gravity they handle outrageously well. I had mine (CBR400RR) for 5 years and longer than any of my other more powerful bikes and once I had some experience I was keeping up with much more powerful bikes on winding roads as they just couldn't corner as fast with them often asking what mods it had once we parked up as they couldn't believe it was a 400cc bike. They are great for building confidence and experience.
I swear by the Honda 400s as they were bullet proof however they are all imports where as the ZXR400 was officially sold in the UK, however you may have trouble finding a non import one now in decent condition and expect to pay a premium for it over the imports.
And Robby that is a stunning bike
