TBH, in a road car there is no where you can use 400+bhp, on the twisties you will suffer the fate of many a driver with lots of power, and thats to be shown up by something with far less power that handles well, then you wonder where you have gone wrong and think its not enough power, every step drops reliability until the one day something goes pop...

when i went from 275 to 380 it felt bit faster but alot smoother but what i did notice is my brakes feel crap havin to brake alot harder as your hitting same corner u do every day at twice the speed lol. Need bigger brakes only got them 356 mm 8 pots lol.Although 380 in my type r feels perfect but could do with spool bit quicker im at full boost 3750 on a sc40 billet .

It's far from playing catch up on the VFM stakes
For instance take the Newage ecu, even with the new Carberry Rom file developed in the USA that the likes of Andrew Carr are using, the stock ecu is limited compared to a good aftermarket ecu.
So let's look at the aftermarket options mentioned. The Syvecs is £1249 + vat for the supply of the ecu only (Assuming you buy a new one), an Alcatek ecu with 2 stage ALS, flat shift capabilty, launch control, nitrous upgrade and a programming kit £899 + vat.
So you could either have an Alcatek installed and mapped for the same price as you could buy the Syvecs ecu for, or add the Toucan Touchscreen to the package and expand it's functions even further and still have change to put aside for the mapping.

I would say Syvecs offering everything all in one,without the paying extra for ALS,LC,programming kit etc.
Mapping for Syvecs from mappers here is from £200(plus dyno time) up to £400(again plus dyno time),tweak map depends on mapper again,but usually from £100(again plus dyno time) up to £300
Main plus for me is Syvecs datalogging,which is good if you are doing track/drag plus you can send this file to your mapper which will tell you if something is wrong etc.
Plus Syvecs forum which is very helpful with Ryan G or Pat and other mappers there
We are running Syvecs almost 6 months and we are happy with our purchase
About the AlcaTek never tried and can't comment pro and cons

Agreed ! Datalogging can be useful, however to take the real advantage of it you'll need a load of additional sensors, oil pressure, oil temp, fuel pressure, Closed loop wideband, egt etc.
I've been mapping Alcatek ecus for nearly 6 years now and can't fault them, I also run 2 of them on my own cars

I don't really know what the differnce is between alcatek and syvecs and even the os mapping that Andy Carr does on the oem ecu??
All I know is they all have switchable maps, anti lag, launch, etc
It all seems the same but i prob couldn't be more wrong

If it has to be an aftermarket ECU you go for then I would lean towards Syvecs. Yes it may well work out slightly dearer than an Alcatek but Syvecs also comes with a proven track record which in my book is worth the extra £££.
Be nice to see a few more posts from different mappers with their opinions on Alcatek vs Syvecs. Pretty sure I know which one most would opt for.
You could always be different like me and go with a Motec...

Syvecs is obviously very good but with the new options that go with the alcatek and toucan touch screen it is a very good contender that's for sure!
I have seen a toucan first hand and was very very impressed with it and how quick responding the signals are along with the layout of the screen.
