Its strange how the products that Jeff is selling(gauges, tow hooks, billet compressor wheel) can be bought from various websites direct from China.

Make your own mind up.....

If you don't mind I'm going to add my "two peneth".

From the outset he never said they were genuine, and although he may have known they could/likely to be fake, he never said they were genuine, right?

You gave him a hard time reference the authenticity, yet I know folk are buying these with no intention of actually using them for the job that they would/could be used to do. They just want something to show there mates! Its just like buying copy harnesses, copy brake discs, copy wheel nuts etc etc, all these items need to be safe/reliable, but yet folk buy them as they "look" the part and they are 2 or 3 x cheaper than the real thing!

Please give the guy a break, he never said they were Genuine!

Rob

Why are people paying £30 for stuff that's not genuine Rob? I suggest it's because the OP hasn't actually been that clear in his advert

This is a question for jeffwrx and him alone:

If as a direct result of the failure of any product that you sell there is some form of injury or damage, what kind of liability would you offer?

As you are most certainly selling items for profit and multiples of them then I'd class you as running a small business, do you have adequate liability insurance to cover any possible claim?

As the seller any liability lies with you in the first instance and not the manufacturer.

OK just looked at the how to spot a fake page, & it nearly fooled me, but they are fake. My front & rear have the same serial No & each hook should have a unique No.
Jeff, are you offering refunds, as I think evryone who bought one would quite reasonably have assumed these to be genuine?

And how many on the previous thread that definately gave the impression they were genuine, look at the thread name which you haven't been able to delete! - odd that this thread was only started when people started questioning if they were fakes or not on the last thread!

Do you know they are fake - it would certainly appear so. I hate con artists, luckily I wasn't taken in by this guy, it was close though.

How fast do you think one of these things would fly towards a recovery truck guy or a marshall at a track day if it broke whilst under tension, would he know not to use it because it's a bit of bling?

another keyboard worrior jumping on the bandwagon

the title might have something to do with what was etched into the hook,

if you know so much why didn't you say something ealrlier ,

also I never stated these were genuine anyway not like another seller on here and they only have to ask,

if someone asked if they were genuin and i replied "yes genuine" it is totally differen't

also it doesn't hurt before you by something to do some research yourself

how many people have replica wheels on this forum? loads

also why don't people target some other for sale threads etc..

like the rad caps for sale on here

I was not targeting this for sale thread I just came across a webpage
that told you how to spot a fake tow hook and remembered that this thread had
tow hooks with repeat serial numbers so I posted the link so that people
would know that if they put the hooks on with the intention of using them if their car
broke down that the hooks can fail.

OK, I believe people pays their money and takes their chance - if something looks too good to be true it probably is. I did my research after seeing your 'advert' and decided you are marketing fakes. At that point I decided not to be a 'Keyboard Warrior' but posted a thread on my local forum warning people - this post subsequently resulted in somebody questioning you on your original SN thread, which appears to have caused you to delete your original post and start a new one with no mention of Benen Industries.

To me, at that point, it all looks a little too blatant and I felt that people need to be able to see the whole story to make an informed judgement. You are hiding facts which I am sure you will have to agree looks pretty suspicious - only sold 5?

The other things you mention I have no knowledge of so will not be passing comment.

What does your supplier have to say about the authenticity of these then Jeff if as you say above they were sold to you as genuine? I'm into making a quick buck as much as everybody but look at the bigger picture chap - cover yourself.

These are a safety critical article - I have no doubt that you could swing a bus on the hooks but the bolts are concerning. Tow hooks are very rarely actually pulled in a straight line, there is usually sideways forces.

What utter bollocks! You knew these were snide tow hooks hence your original thread title...I like your attempt at a get out clause.."i didnt say they were genuine" you also didnt mention they "could" be fake. The fact that you sold them as Benen tow hooks suggests to a potential buyer that they are real..
