How much oil does your Sti use ?

Not sure why, think the bloke who had it use to track it a lot,it's just in the paper work that it was up rated to a cosworth head gasket 1.2 mm the uprated again to a 1.5 mm with cosworth stud and nut kit.

It probabaly has Cosworth gaskets because the OEM one's failed...

I too have an STi (Spec D) which used to drink oil running 360 bhp and it's just suffered HG failure at 60k...

...never tracked and driven like a ponce most of the time...tend to agree with the 2.5 haters...they are rubbish engines...

My 2.5 ( also a spec D ) doesnt use any oil between its 3k oil changes. Running 1.3bar peak boost so a reasonably safe map for the spec. Done 36k miles and runs Fuchs 10w50.

I think they are good engines but they get picked on a bit, in the engine industry it won an award back in 2006 , see here

In standard form it is a great engine for every day fast road driving. For a modifier with a budget its not so good. It can be made to be very good but at a higher cost than the older 2 litre engine.

As for running in. I've been told they need to be put under load but not over revved for as much as 1800 miles or they can end up oil burners hence the importance of a running in map. Im not sure if this is just for forged engines or applies to standard as well?

You say , used to drink oil .whats it like now with the new HG.

he hasnt said he`s fixed it lol, i think you will find you do have a problem lurking under the bonnet i`m afraid, whether its ring lands or something else time will tell.

My 2.0 jdm also uses no oil between services, 5w40 grade shell helix used.
