Last game there was nothing , teams seemed to be nervous each other. Was either goal keeper actually stretched even once , I don't think so

The first games were good I thought , maybe just a coincidence - Rooney was on the bench and his contemporaries managed to string something together.

Did you ever see us really press the ball? All the other teams pressed the ball trying to push the other team into making mistakes. We just sat off teams letting them have the ball, in doing that we are pushed so far back in our own half that if/when we regain possession our only "out" ball is to kick it up field giving the ball back for them to come at us again.
Thats tactics.....or lack of IMO.

Problem is, when Rooney is in the team, we play a completely different dimension. I so wish Rooney was not in the team. I like the guy and think hes a good player but the players in the team are not used to playing around a focal player which is how we look when hes in the team. Unfortunate but true. If only he would be used as an out and out striker for us, its the only way I reckon

What a funny old game, Italy couldn't score against a lacklustre England team and here they are 2 - 0 up against the Germans.
This bodes well for woy going forward, he's got the defence sorted, all 'he' needs to do now is figure how to score and win games...........easy

Yup, I was a doubter of Spain this year but they must have just been toying with everyone for the tournament giving teams false hope because they certainly looked head and shoulders above any other team tonight. Fantastic performance. Personally loved Torres' assist for Mata, that was real class.

Didn't see that thumping comming either TBH, I actually fancied the Italians after the way they handled themselfs against England and Germany..
It is indeed a funny old game lol.

Am I the only one here who thinks Spain's style of play, of constant and short passing, and lack of risk-taking could turn football into a big snoozefest? Successful yes, entertaining no.

Disagree, I prefer to watch some good passing of the ball all day long. How can you say Spain are boring to watch? I dont get all that media bitching before the game.

Because they squeeze the life out of the game. They'll slow it right down, do some short passing, keep the ball for minutes at a time without actually doing anything, then score a goal while the opposition were asleep! It's the footballing equivalent of Schumacher at Ferrai.
