It is smooth and noiseless and my last car did just on 30mpg with the same size engine and the performance was poor in comparison.
I reckon I am well and truly on the plus side with this one.

It's true Les .... todays Diesels are a superior form of transport.
Just as the Impreza rocked the world through the decade from 1995 - 2005 .... the Diesel has rocked the world from around 2005 - now.
My Honda Civic 2.2 TurboDiesel does eveything the old Impreza did back in the day - it makes me smile .... it looks great, it pulls like a steam train, it returns 55mpg AND costs a mere £115 a year to tax ...... oh, yeah, nearly forgot - £165 a year Insurance

lol - what utter tosh - are you saying this to make yourself feel better that you're old and drive an oil burner!
realllly, I think they're pig ugly rep mobiles but as long you're happy
No it doesnt - hideous things - looks like halfords designed them
what with 139 bhp and a 0-60 of just under 9 seconds??
woop de doo - i'd rather have a big grin on my face when I get out the car from the soundtrack and feel of such an awesome car than an extra £5 in my wallet which might have been saved from driving automotive bilge!

They need to ditch it and stick it on petrol so payment is based on usage and economy rather than an arbritary figure based on CO2 output, would do away with all the admin and sending little disks out, would do away with avoidance to a certain extent, base it on 10k a year in a 30 mpg car paying £200 or so now, catch those BMW Eco dynamics paying no VED, ludicrous that it is based on emmissions so someone spending 30k on a car pays next to nothing and then does 30k a year where someone in a grands worth of 2.0 Mondeo pays £260 but only does 3k.
