We don't see women as shells thats complete bollocks, but understandable as the western media (daily mail great example) pounces on any given opportunity to highlight injustice to women and hashtags it with "ISLAM" "MUSLIM".

How does that work? I don't see how deciding not to shake the hand of a women compared to shaking a womans hand will stop one thinking sexual thoughts? If anything the former is worse in that it requires on to be consciously vigilant for the presence of women, everyone you might have to shake hands with must be 'screened' for their sex. If anything a policy to just shake anyone hands will make one less conscious of sex.

Women are abused all over the world including the UK, the route cause is poverty and lack of education. Even in the Muslim world we get Gypo's who don't give two ****z and have been raised like Animals.
In this case you do as her wishes are completely ignored. She's just an object not a subject.

Fair point, so now as long as the hand non shaker is extra polite to make up for the snub & reassures the that he sees her as a peer and intends no offence, we can all carry on with our lives and there is no reason for any on to go back wherever they came from

It's hard to explain to someone when you have no intention to actually take on what am saying and agree. All your hellbent on doing is arguing your point because you think your right.

Listen........in plain simple English Muslims don't do it to disrespect Women it's there to stop us from sining by having sexual thoughts. You might think it's stupid, but these stupid little laws/ teachings are our beliefs. Understand it........don't take any disrespect from it.....and get on.......simple.

So next time this arouses you can educate the uneducated

BTW I MYSELF SHAKE THE HAND OF WOMEN. It just means I am compromising my beliefs more so than Abbas however that is between me and my creator.

How british do you have to be, to be british?

None of what I have bolded up there^. Just shake women's hands, don't ignore female in the crowd of people and greet all the males only. It recently happened to a young British female I know. She is a friend to a Muslim lad. His dad came to pick him up from a social gathering. He said hello and goodbye to every male friend of his son, but totally blanked the young girl who is also a mate to his son. She was fully clad, not that she was flashing her ***** or legs out in skimpy clothes or anything. So there was no silly excuse but to take her as a 'sacred' being for ignoring her. Load of boll@x, if you ask me. Get out of that silly reasoning that women are 'sacred' and that is why you treat them as untouchables and unapproachable! Start realising that you are here in the UK. Shaking women's hands mean nothing sexual. Here, do as the British do for as many things as you can. No one is stuffing pork in your mouth, or asking you to do a naked parade after getting hammered, or go see football with the British flag tattooed on your forehead. Its all irrelevant and boll@x talk about drinking, sh@gging around and fighting. Nobody is asking you to do that.

I understand your reason but your reason is not applicable here in the British setting, so it should be taken out of the context.

I argue with the unreasonable anti-Muslims and anti-ethnics here too, but this "not shaking hands with women and sticking up for it in favour of Islam" is not sounding reasonable at all. Law or no law, a social norm as harmless as a hand shake without discrimnating between males and females should be respected IMO.

And no, no one should be asking you to F off to your country. That is not the solution. The solution is that you understand what's what. if not, then obviously you may like to make some arrangements to stick to your ways of life e.g. work in a sector when you don't have to shake women's hands or else.

I myself many years ago went to a meeting which started with a hand shake , later on this lady who was at least a 6/10 came a little closer and took hold of my tie and said something along the lines, "this is nice" while looking into my eyes with a, "let's get it on" type of look. Luckily for me & her I am much too soft for all that and I simply said, "thanks, my wife got it me " It wouldn't have taken much in them days, if she was a 8 or 9 out of 10 I may well have done a big
Nowadays, when I turn up to a meeting, with nearly 4 years worth of facial hair, a man dress and explain my religion prevents me from shaking the hands of women who have no relation to me, those doors of temptation are firmly shut
So it's not the actual hand shaking, it is closing any doors which may lead to temptation and tests.

She might have just been flirting, doesn't necessarily mean she wanted you to jump her bones.

I'm getting the impression you see women as dangerous Seductresses waiting to lure good men into bed.

Bang on, she was only flirting but it 'could possibly' have lead to something whereas with my new look and outlook she would have to be fairly strange/mental to want to flirt with me

Re: Dangerous Seductresses
I agree in a way, but I feel it works both ways. I know I have done plenty of silly things to try and impress/seduce women years ago. Obviously not all women or all men are like this. When you are as sexy as me, you can't be too careful

As Tony mentions, she was only flirting, "Get it on" was the best way I could think of describing the situation/look she gave me, at the time

P.s. I am very ugly 4 years ago I had muscles where I now have flab

I must say that the number of posts implying all muslims are rapists/child groomers is pretty disgusting. It really does show just how small minded and bigoted some people are, and pretty stupid to be honest.

The people who have made these comments should remember just how many Catholic priests have been caught molesting children on a monumental scale. And that whenever we hear about small children (and even babies) being sexually abused it is almost ALWAYS white British. Why doesn't everybody run around labeling white christians as baby molestors?

And lets think for a moment about the poor girls who were groomed by these 'muslim' gangs. They of course were (white) children and victims and needed protecting. But where were the parents who were meant to be doing the protecting?

If one wants to apply stereotypes as SN loves to do then perhaps one could assume as typical white British the father was getting drunk in the pub whilst the mother was having her back doors smashed in by anybody who fancied it.

The only way for parents to protect 'white' girls from Asian sex gangs would be to keep them under lock and key 24/7. This seems to be the way the Muslims 'look after' their women hence it was argued this was the reason the gangs chose white girls.

Ffs! Some of the comments are racial IMO, thought this was a multicultural country weather asian,Indian, polish,German,French etc etc. it dosent matter. People go to pray and that is respected or not? People choose there beliefs and some don't that's just the individual on how they follow there religion!
To the op all he has to do is ask the said person and explain amicabilly and tell him to explain politely as to why, and she may not get offended. Instead of making this thread!
It just shows how alive racisium is stil alive behind closed doors. It's just sick!
I know a lot of diffrent cultures and respect them all, they do what they do and we do what we do! Everyone lives their own lives, it's just good that we can all get along that's counts IMO.
I think this thread should be closed tbh as some of the comments make me sick!

Closing the thread isn't the answer Ryan.
I think people should be able to express their views and those who are being delibrately obtuse will show themselves up for what they are. Shaking hands isn't a big issue is it? I've made my position clear earlier in the the thread. It's an ancient practice which I am lead to believe was a way of confirming those approaching you were unarmed. Does that have any relevance in modern society? (Some may say neither has religion). It's not strictly a Western cultural monopoly (shaking hands) so there isn't a case of someone being offensive to Western society. Are people playing Devil's Advocate for the sake of it by taking umbrage? I still stand by my earlier statement that if the shaking of hands is necessary for work purposes then one should do it, i.e don't bite the hand that feeds you. I've just watched a muslim woman in Bradford shake Ed Milliband's hand on the news five minutes ago. It seems to be a personal choice.
