Maybe is time to stop taking the P. I would usually be up there myself, but having just read a case where a member of the travelling community was refused entry to a Belfast nightclub and sucessfully sued the club for 15k. They claimed that it was because of the dress code posted by the door. He claimed it was because he was a member of the travelling community. The strage thing was that they let the rest of his properly attired family in. The important point is that he still won the case.

"Diddy coy" a term from my youth in Hertfordshire My parents bought a pair of Dobermanns after a few gentlemen of the road insisted on visitting every weekend to attempt to lay tarmac on their drive !....The dogs worked
Does Diddy Coy have any relevance to "Diddy men" of Ken Dodd fame?
Is their a Liverpool equivalent?
There is a large fixed camp run by the local council for "Travellers" where the "women folk" reside whislt their "men folk" are improving their wealth. The men in this camp all drive arround in top of the range 4x4s and Las Vegas style caravans.
It is a genuinely scarey place with staff almost drawing lots to visit............drunk and incapables littering the place. As they suffer so much predjudice they are naturally suspicious of any outsiders.
"No I am not a taxman/policeman" is standard reply to assure the irate inhabitant, then it gets interesting with demands for perscriptions for Methadone!"
The travelling community (This sounds like Scoobynet except that is an car owning, not borrowing community) Is being decimated by drug abuse in the younger generations,........expensive habits to keep...........

I have a problem with political correctness.
Then again, I also have a problem with racism - if you replaced the offending word which SbB would rather we didn't use with another racially based one (perhaps which rhymed with Tigger)you'd realise that many of the statements made here are deeply offensive and in any other context would have long since have been shouted down.
Perhaps we should, as Simon suggests, drop this now. I'm actually amazed he's let it go on this long.

PS A caravan (with a 2 day old baby in it) was stolen from a traveller's site last night. Do you think the parents are any less distraught than you or I would be?

True, but 'travelling' is neither a race nor a religion. There was a general bad feeling on here against the 'reclaim the streets' and other anti-society protests -- I don't see how 'travelling' is any different? It's not for me to define 'normal' but the system in this country isn't set up for people of 'no fixed abode' or not paying taxes. My wife's a Muslim, and the system isn't set up for praying five times a day (it just doesn't fit in with the 9-5 workday) or doing your prayers during daylight hours (doesn't work too well in the winter) but she just has to accept it.

I realise a lot of people have very strong views on this.
I think what we should be addressing here is not how you feel about it yourselves, but how your views will affect Scoobynet and waht consequences could arise.
Like it or not, that is the way it is.

point being what? you could use that example and apply to the best ppl in the world right through to the most evil and it would still apply so it means nothing.

hi chrisp
I agree with you on the fact that it is going nowhere, but I feel very strongly that anything to do with the way scoobynet is run should be left open for all to comment on.
It does belong in general though as it is of general concern to the scoobynet community / scoobynet.
All the best
Simon

remember, if you don't like political correctness then you know what to do: never, ever, ever, vote for a leftie.
it's a disease unique to them (i say them, because they are a separate species to normal, reasonable-minded humans), caused by a recently-discovered DNA flaw known as wankiohelix. it manifests itself in three ways:
1) talking utter rubbish
2) foaming at the mouth (maybe rabies too)
3) wanting to control what other people think, say or do
4) smearing your good name if you disagree with them
1) and 2) are bad enough if you have the misfortune to meet one in the street, but with combined with 3) and 4), genus leftie becomes a threat, if elected, to the essence of personal freedom.
Which, for any hard-of-thinking lefties reading, is what democracy is all about. Ie, one's right to express one's thoughts and opinions without fear of persecution, prosecution, reprisal or indeed, assassination.

Personally after Romany gave his description on page 1, to clarify things, I would have locked it and ended it there. If you read back I thanked him for taking the time because I guess like a lot of people I hadnt got a clue as I have never heard the word before.

no lefty parties?
yes we do: the green party, socialist worker party, communist party, the liberal democrats plus the core of old labour, which still, despite the gloss of the new labour brand and blair's stranglehold on process/representation, makes up the majority of the party's backbench MPs.
crikey, what planet do you live on?

Relevant to an earlier point.
From BBC news:
WTF?
From BBC news:
A four-week-old boy who was inside a caravan stolen from a Nottinghamshire travellers' site has been found safe and well.
The baby, called John, had been left at his great-grandmother's home in Wolverhampton.

And more:
But:
What was the baby doing alone in a caravan at 4 am?
Officers had launched a nationwide hunt for the child after his parents, Michael Connors and Bridget Flynn, raised the alarm at about 0425 BST on Wednesday.
The child was alone in the caravan which was taken from a travellers' site on the A611 near Hucknall, Nottinghamshire.
