Bi-year is fine. You can add 'bi' onto the front of a name as a combining form.

Can't believe this was a question that deserved any discussion.

You should take a look at the apple thread in Computer Related Les. He's adamant that I'm wrong, even has his thumb on his nose wiggling his fingers. Madness.

And you cannot speak English Jack....
Jeez, you fooked up, you cannot deny it, even the dictionary is against you
It tells you what "years" means, a very long time, if you were to indicate 2 years, 3 years, 5 years, 10 years, then you indicate a length of time, have you not figured that out or are you really that sad?

Here you go, just because you didnt listen to your english teacher at school

Numerical expressions are usually singular, but can be plural if the individuals within a numerical group are acting individually:

Fifty thousand dollars is a lot of money.
One-half of the faculty is retiring this summer.
One-half of the faculty have doctorates.
Fifty percent of the students have voted already.

If you have not got it after this, you really must be thick

In my dictionary it says that usage is informal.

Really with any language you can use it how you want according to a language-game, so it's not set in stone. If you want to start using 'years' to mean two or more years with your mates it isn't wrong.
