Ford - Now all front wheel drive and therefore of no interest to me.
I speak as a previous owner and track driver of a variety of Cosworths.
I'm not saying they don't perform well, but just like sleeping with Katie Price, not for me thanks.

Apart from various 2 litre STi's all Subarus are prone to piston issues if you want to tune them. If you fix them properly, they'll give fantastic power and driving pleasure. I'd have a Hatch over a Ford any day of the week.

I know of someone who had an RS Focus and the engine blew and destroyed the engine after a few k. He had a hellish time getting it sorted as Ford were trying to worm their way out of paying. Only got sorted when he got it plastered in local newspapers.

So they both go Kaboom

first one ive heard of out of the whole focus RS OC, so id take my chances on 1 in thousands than the much higher sti rates.

Though im moving more toward the sti after thinking of the warranty and it not all being as bad as it seems. still preferring the focus though

What you need to do is go and drive both cars

Would that be the one where the engine is still intact after 12 years?

As alan said a while ago give me traction rather then traction control, being an owner of a fwd cars for ever and moving to a scooby, ill never look back

I get 300 to a tank motorway, i can tonk from a standing start in the wet and know im gonna go rather then spin like hell as the eddie stobart lorry aproaches,

ReliAblilty on both models im afraid a few on here have chopped in the frs for a scooby and will explian why.

Look after the hatch and itll last you a long time. The frs is an ok car, and would suit you probably at 22 but me being 40 too chavtastic for me, and will no doubt date quite quickly

I have been looking at both over the past few months and I can see the appeal of the FRS2 to someone who is 22. For me (at 35) it’s a bit too over the top and in your face. Its strange when you have to say that a scoob is more subtle. I do love the sound from the 5pot engine.

Prices also put me off the FRS. They have kept their value well considering how many of them are for sale compared to hatches. And I see one every other day whereas I’m lucky if I see an STi Hatch for months at a time.

Even though they are also a 2.5 300ish bhp they are 1 tax bracket cheaper = half the amount of tax you will pay on an STi hatch. So another consideration.

also consider your 22 and gonna have a nice car, the bitches will throw their knickers at you, which open you to having more babies, FRS is 3 door 5 Door doesnt come till 2015.
And 3 doors are an **** to move seats about in, I had the Astra VXR and although livable , baby seats in 4 doors are much easier.

The hatch is a great car for shoving **** in too, I got a full size Roland Piano in mine, Ok i was driving with my chin on the windscreen, but hey ho it was good, Cant do that anymore in my saloon

I am looking at buying a wrx sti hatch as well and have also looked at the rs. Have the issues been solved in the 2010 models as or would it still be worth while to get it remapped.

Thanks

Only seen one jinge on here go pop, and i think by the looks his car has problems elsewhere that mde it go. Mines been perfect, 28k on it now and still purrs like a cat.

Ive just test driven 2 45k BMWs because i had this theory that i was getting old and wanted Luxury, but after 5 days in each i can safely say i wont be bothering. Having that 4wd is something to be cherished, i feel so much safer when i blasting off a roundbout or in the snow, than i ever did in a 2wd. and the BMWs man i seem to wheelspin that backend all the time.
