The more I read on scoobeynet, the more I am starting to think I will spend my cash on fitting my new kitchen and bathroom etc...

House insurance is cheap, no speeding fines, no jealousy lines, and no fu*ker can jack it etc. etc. etc

Some days this world is just too depressing.

Barry
The professional certainly will have better thing to do than simply hang around. But opportunists, the type that wait beside a petrol station for someone to leave keys in the ignition dont.

Trouble is that these are now picking up the car jack concept and playing the armed and dangerous card! That's the type that may have taken a chance at the car dealers.

A someone was threatened by two guys our car park he thumped one and they took off! Another guy had four blokes demand his keys outside his office in Manchester. He chose not to, they beat him sensless with iron bars and put him in hospital for weeks. He still kept hold of his keys. When he returned to work they came back and waited by his Scoob! Police didn't want to know

Problem is how can you tell the difference.

Still no news, and worse no transport, insurance wont settle for at least 3-4 weeks and cos its a theft no courtesy car...thats too many no's in one day.

I am totally depressed now. If it comes back to me I am not sure if I want it anymore.

Good news is my lad is taking it all very well.

Don't get too down M8. This is the worst possible time small negatives are large ones today.

I had my RS (Sierra) taken, took the bloody Police 4 days to find it and it had been parked up for 3 of those. I expected the worst when I went for it, but it was shor of a little rubber, bust spoiler and locks. Had some initial reservations about the mechanicals but in the end ran it for 135,000 miles

Sparkplug who had a worse car jack experience has also generally bounced back. So do try to think positive, things will get better.

When are the POLICE going to take some serious action to stop these crimes
When they decide that car jackings can be considered as a motoring offense like doing 35 in a 30 zone or having your foglights on in the day time..

Still no news.

To answer some earlier queries, the CCTV did not show anything. Apparently its time lapse or something, and takes snap shots, and resolution is not very good anyway. My son was also unable to ID the crooks, so it looks like they will get away with it and do it all over again to some other unsuspecting victim.

I have now learned that this is a pretty common occurance and it indeed happened only last week on the car park of the Cinema which is all part of the same complex.

I now feel very angry that the supermarkets and cinemas etc, knowing this sort of thing happens on their car parks, do not have a duty of care to provide better security for its valued customers. The cost of providing a couple of security guards to patrol the car parks, plus better CCTV surveilance, would be insignificant when compared to the vast profits they earn.

Perhaps, if as you say, this is a known common occurrence, you should approach "Talk Sport Cliams" or whoever with a view to suing.

Someone is negligent in their duty of care, whether it is the supermarket, local council or Old Bill. They can't say "we were'nt to know", because they evidently do, and choose to do nothing about it.

Good job they didn't steal your car to get away with "stolen" golf ***** after two pints of shandy though, they wouldn't have stood a chance faced with the full might of the law.

Write to Asda and rattle their cage about not shopping there, make sure the MEN and local papers know about it. They like stories like this and it will peeve Asda, and the Pilsworth complex, to get bad publicity

Strasman,
Don't know if this will help, but the Asda store in Dunstable, have wardens walking round, checking cars for parking tickets, why not right to Asda and ask why it has not got it in every store and also complain about the CCTV or lack of it I should say........Good luck

This hijacking is gettin me down,
Totally ignore this thread if offended.
Here we go......These cowards work in packs, out numbering thier opponents, they use weapons, and basically thier success is due to overpowering, suprise and fear. Now then, this has happened in this car park before and will do again,so if we elliminate the overpowering, surprise and fear, the boot will be on the other foot.
Here is my suggestion.....
I am willing to be bait for the ******* in my nice new scoob, but I will need reliable back up,positioned around the area.I have already got a number of associates willing and able to do the job,but the more the merrier.Instead of them nickin another scoob, hopefully we can nick them. Now then, time for the reaction, good idea or bad?
PS I know its a dangerous game, but the risk is mine,I also realise that its taking the law into your own hands and its not the done thing, but lets see the fors and againsts........next time it could be you or your mrs on there own and its not on.

Sorry to hear about this. Glad your family are OK, being a family man myself I know you must be extremely gutted about your son being exposed to the lowest form of life. The car can be replaced, a childs physical/mental wellbeing is a different story.

In South Africa car-jacking is rife escpecially at traffic lights. In response to the last thread by YOZA, I don't personally believe in the direct action you are talking about, so I have my own suggestions:

1. 50,000 volts to the outside door handles connected to a pulse meter. If it was a constant 50,000 volts it would kill (preferable action certainly, but you would get banged up). With it pulsing, they would get a huge fright and a dodgy hair cut then they would run like f**k screaming there b**ls off.

2. 8ft high flames..........in South Africa, there was someone who developed a system whereby if someone attempted to highjack your car, a flick of a switch would send up 7-8ft high flame (for a second) then it would die down....the low-life scum would again sh** himself, cr*p and p*sh himself, but this time he would be bald as a fu**er.

Since posting the orignal reply, DNB has provided link which demonstrates my 2nd suggestion perfectly. Cheers DNB, great minds think alike eh!

Jobless, low-life, waste of space, useless, d**kless scum. Put them to 20 hour days re-building the railways to clear our roads to make space for more modified cars.

In SA the problem of jacking got so bad that measures like the flame gun were 'justified'. However, jackers now expect this kind of measure and as they attack tend to throw petrol over the car... It's called escalation...

This should be tackled by the state and company security not individuals.. The CCTV at the centre is there presumeably for security and insurance purposes. But what use is it? Surely the centre's insurance company would object? Maybe a case of public liability... We're encouraged to shop at these places by the sense of security given by CCTV. However this is a false impression.
Ask Asda for the name of their public liability insurers and call them for a claim form...

A few months back i left my car in a carpark and came back to find mirrors broken, and scratches round one of the locks where they had obviously attmepted to get in, and the door seal was also damaged. I was up for leaving my car again there one night and staking it out. when the *******s come back u could jump them and give them a good "talking to."

Hi All

Once again thanks for all your encouraging comments.

Scooby_Manchester...you asked which ASDA. It is the ASAD/Warner/Megabowl complex at Pilsworth.

I have got a meeting tomorrow with ASDA management to discuss the pathetic security measures ie time lapse CCTV snap shots, which has been ineffective in detering the villains cos they are doing this in daylight and without masks.

I believe that if supermarkets invite us onto their property to purchase their goods, for them to make profit, they should have a reasonable duty of care to prevent there customers being the victims of assault and robbery.

I must also say that Robinsons of Rochdale (my local Scoob dealer) has provided me with a courtesy car FOC until I have a got a settlement or my car back. They have been really great.

Just an update. Still no sign of my Scoob. Really jarred off now. Totally bored cos I have nothing to play with, wash or caress...oh well I guess the wife will have to do!!

I have had a meeting with ASDA to ask what they intend to do to protect their customers from this sort of thing in the future, and as you might have expected the reception was luke warm to say the least, and when I even hinted that they should reimburse any losses they quickly called an end to our meet.

So its a phone call to the media now I thinks.

Dont forget...look over your shoulder when you park your Scoob.

Sorry to hear the bad news, just to give you some info, if a car park is being attacked in some way over and over again then the owner of the car park have to do something to stop this, if its an isolated incident then they dont but as its been done before give them grief.
Just to put Username to face! I got the filter off you ages ago, my scoobs gone too but traded it.
Are you put off having another Impreza I was after mine was broke into so went for the Galant.

Good luck
