Hehe I've never got myself into something that I can't get away from (apart from my WRX and Scoobynet sucking my life of course). One burglar tried to report me to the police but mysteriously did not want to persue that case any further.
Still waiting to be reported for the incident that happened a few weeks ago when a few lads "attempted" to steal my car. Quite difficult when the owner is a light sleeper is friendly with all the neighbours.

You really need to change the title on this thread at this rate It'll read 'my scooby just got jacked' and you'll be driving about in the 3rd or 4th car since then Can't remember if I posted earlier on but when I read this thread I had the usual thoughts such as..........those scummy, theiving little (£$(&^£$£($(" You get the point!!

Yeah SAXOBOY, I know it is turning into a bit of a marathon, still if I get my pride and joy back I'll be out polishin it (or its replacement) instead of sittin here being a nerdyhead.

I forwarded this link on Scoobynet to Steve Orrel - news editor at the Bury new paper - and he sent me a response...
This is what I got......
"Dear Mr Ruddle
Thanks for your e-mail. We had been made aware of the incident by the father, and we did run a small piece in the Bury Times. However, his version was different to that which had been logged by the police. We had no confirmation from the police that his vehicle had been stolen, only his son's mobile phone. The father did say he was taking the issue up with Asda, but that was a
matter for him, and we ran with the story based on the facts of the
carjacking as given out by the police.
Thanks for your interest.

Good luck.

I must put the record straight.
The Bury Times have got themselves in a complete muddle over this. There had been two car-jackings in the Bury area, both within a few days of each other.
Mine was the first incident and was on ASDAs car park, son was threatened with knife and car was stolen and not recovered. We made a full report to the Police and I have not given the story to the Bury Times.
The second incident was in Bury town centre, and the attack was on the MPs son, and he managed to thwart the attack and the villains took off without the car. This was not reported to the Bury Times and they got the story via Police reports.
The Bury Times have obviously got the two incidents merged into one which explains why the variations in the two stories.
I hope this puts the matter to bed, but I will ring the Bury Times and advise them of their error.
This should not detract however from the seriousness of the car-jacking phenomena which is now sweeping Britain.

Sorry to hear about yor misshap! As many of you may have heard on the news and in the national papers a couple of months ago, three scoobies were stolen in the norht london area. The thieves patroled the streets of noth london looking for scoobies and other high performance cars. When they found the car they wanted the broke into the house and held the owners of the car at gun point till the keys were handed over! Now heres me thinking is my car worht more than my life?? Obviously not! Now i have just bought myself a lovely Sti 6 coupe v-limited, ok insurance is high and many people have assured me that within a month of taking it on the road i will get jacked! Bo*****s to that i thought, why should'nt be able to drive tha car i have worked like a dog for???
To deter these low life scums i have fitted a clifford alarm with anti hijacking and a tracker but what gets me is why should we have to the extent that we have to spend thousands on insurance and security. The problem lies with our Police and justice system! In other countries ie United Arab Emirates, cars can be left unlocked without the owner being afraid that some c**t will nick his pride and joy. The reason being that the thief doesnt fancy having his hand chopped off viewd by the public in the town square! now im not saying that we should amputate body parts but at the least that could happen is the police can respond to these serious crimes and the courts should put them away for a couple of years. It just shows that our justice system is a load of doo dah and would rather put away a mother for 6months whos kids have been bunking off school rather than a thief who would leave you for dead!

It is the young criminals that bunk of school that are bain of most peoples lives, and when they turn 16 they don't automatically become law abiding citizens and stop mugging people they just get worst because they have been able to get away with it for so long.
Most day-to-day crime, including theft from cars, is carried out by children bunking off school.
Cr@p parents need to be made accountable for the cr@p kids they breed, and the influence of this type of kid only makes it more difficult for decent parents to bring up their own kids.
Assuming you are refering to the mother from Oxfordshire, she was sentenced to 58 days, reduced to 28 days on appeal, for allowing her two kids to bunk off school for two years (not just a couple of days).
Now how educated are these two kids going to be? apart from street crime not a lot else.
The move is preventative more than anything else, but I agree that the current crop of thieves seem to do what they like when they like and nothing happens.
Maybe chopping hands off is not such a bad idea, as long as social security is not then paid to these people.
It seems to me that we have pay whatever happens to these criminals.

Yeah I second that. It is the fault of the lack of effective Policing and the pathetic justice system which provides the crooks with every loophole to exploit to evade punishment... and, they are getting too good it!
I heard there was a recent situation where a police officer was reprimanded for chasing a crook to rigourously such that the scumbag tore his clothes and then claimed compo for the damage to his clothing!! sh*t..sh*t..sh*t!! that makes me angry!!
We have all heard about the farse and total waste of resources tying to prosecute some geezer for collecting golf *****!!
I know this thread is dragging on a bit but the more people bang on about this problem to the media and to their MPs then we may have a chance that something will be done. Appathy is what allows the scum get away with it and allows the polititions to have an easy life.
Sorry for the rant.

Well theres good news and theres bad news
Good news is that I have received the insurance cheque and I gotta say that Churchill have been fantastic throughout the claim, and very efficient.
Bad news is that I just got a reply from ASDA head office basically saying that whilst they sympathise with my position
(yeah) what happens to customers on their car parks is not ASDAs problem. In other words we will take your money but the rest is your problem. Ba@t@rds!!!.
Their attitude makes me very angry. Its off to the media now!

Pleased to hear you got your cheque. Sounds like Churchill are alot better than Norwich union Direct (but that's another story!)
In Bristol yesterday a 12 (yes twelve) year old boy is critical in hospital after crashing a stolen police car. As far as I can gather it was daytime and he was being followed. Seems to bear out the comments about truancy above.
Also the police recently leaked that 30%-40% of ALL the theft in Bath (you know, that posh place where they like to pretend there's no crime) was committed by just three teenagers. for the price of a stout blade and a bit of medical attention you could reduce the crime in Bath by a third? I'm with the amputation option
Have fun shopping Stratman!

I prefer the electricity one, it's a little more discrete.
And I agree - direct action probably won't help. It will only raise the stakes further.

I have always adopted the attitude that I would rather spend for example £500 on prevention than £100 to repair what the scum do/steal/vandalise etc etc
Where we live we've been lucky, car crime has mostly been to the extent of broken window with stereo nicked, I don't actually know of anyone who has had their car stolen. Nowadays, probably in the last couple of years, more and more burnt out cars are appearing.
I don't have a garage, just a driveway. I have installed a 100w porch light which is on ALL night, a 60w PIR globe light and a 500w PIR floodlight, it's like BLACKPOOL ILLUMINATIONS when anything is in the garden. Next is the twin camera CCTV system (@£100 from B&Q). At the moment I have a Saxo diesel and the Wife a Clio. The Saxo is up for sale and I am buying my mates Honda Civic VTec, so the CCTV should be that far off. Later in the year the mine field/electric fences/gun turrets/rockweilers will be installed with Anne Robinson as security guard.....LOL
