Absolutely ture. How fast is a car is how well its handle and go round a circuit in a shortest lap time, a car can not shows its ture performance in a straight line on public road, why bothered.

dood dont b upset u took 1 for da team, i had a similer xperience 
I woz jus croozin along in my phat ride(scooby) when I get to some lites and right beside me was dis rs turbo! Ah look ovah at him an hes all grinnin like hes fly and gonna waste me. He had this beyatch wiv him and shes a fly blond, thinkin her man is the dog's bollox.
So teh lights goez green and were off. Man im p1ssin all ovah dis guy its embarasing!!! Then we ave to stop 4da next lites. Were of again an im double clutching, heel toeing and quick shifting and he don stand a chance!! Man you shouda seen the look on his face! He tried not to show it but he waz well ragin! His bird was laughin at him to! Best she wishes she was in da scooy!!
Anywayz we pulled over after for a chat. He told me his chariot had been boosted to 400 ponnies so I wuz well chuffed. What really fvcked im of was dat he was on his way to work where he test drives F1 cars. His boss reckons hes a better driver than Schuey and he sez i shud give him a bell for a job too.
It was a gr8 race an i thought id tell yoos all about it and help keep da scooby scene real.

i cant help you with you'RE (did i get that right?) mechanical dilemas, i know **** all about it!
what i can say though is as a new owner of a Type UK running about 320BHP i have to say im a little dissappointed with the take up on these cars. i used to own a standard focus ST and im pretty certain it would have blown my current car away from a standing start, prob caught it eventually, but the ST was smooth as you like right from the off. only 3 years apart in age so its not like the technology is worlds apart.
After reading this thread tho, im wondering if i shoud go back!!

It wouldnt beat the scoob from a standing start , my mates ST couldnt as his traction control killed the revs , and if he turned it off the wheels just spun. On a private track of course

Stevie what a great sensible post, thanks very much for your input. I should have explained from the beginning my car has been mapped and has 440.s fitted along with a td05 and an apexi and commander, 3 port and later spec map sensor and running 1.3 bar. Im just looking for some advice on a turbo that would be quicker spooling but make similar power to the td05. The turbo that keeps coming up seems to be the vf34.
As for your car, its like this you will always come across a faster car, or someone who is a better driver, or the fact you were in the wrong gear with no boost where the other guy was in the peak range so let's face it who cares if he best you coming off the roundabout. He could of been carrying more speed on his approach, got on the loud pedal sooner as in a better line, was already on boost so what did you think would happen. There are some nippy little cars out there like a Clio 182 that driven right up to 60-70 will supprise a few more powerful cars.
You're lookking to drop a grand or two for the sake of being beaten by a rs turbo........dude who cares! You obviously lol but if you were happy with the car before then let it go and spend the money taking the kids or the bird away on holiday, let's be honest even if you up the power to beat the rs turbo you stand the chance to get caught out by and focus rs next lol
If you have to do it now that you've stated your mods then I would fit one of the clinics billet sc36 and larger injectors and be done with it, even at this stage your engine or gearbox could **** itself all over the road first time you go to use it then your lookijg at rebuilds all for the sake of a rs turbo. It's your money and if it means that much to you then you may want to go for a possible headers and up pipe for a little earlier spool but if your on the move a simple change of gear can cure that, oh and you can always milk a little more out of or with a fmic and induction kit although for the money and the potential failure i would sell the car and put the money you are wanting to spend into a bug or blob sti that have a much stronger engine and gear box, a better chassis and better brakes all as standard but that's just me.

stevie your absolutely right m8. i was planning the front mount and induction feed anyway as andy f had mentioned it the day the car was mapped. I will still mill over the turbo ideas as i still miss the more instant throttle/boost response. I just wish i,d titled the thread differently lol. oh well at least it kept the vultures entertained for a while eh?Thanks for your input anyway bud was appreciated.
