'White scum' sounds like a racist slur. It's like saying to be white is to be scum. If I said the rape gangs were Pakistani scum it would sound bad right? Or the rioters were black scum?

Can see both sides of this one, however, I think racist slur is a stretch. White is a describing word used to get across the point that the scum in question were white. That's rudimentary English. I do see where you're coming from with the shoe being on the other foot though: black scum etc would provoke a pretty strong reaction from the PC camp, whereas the likes of 'white trash' would likely be overlooked.

There is so much rubbish in this thread it is untrue, and a number of posts that are nothing short of thinly veiled racism.
I live and have the misfortune of going out in Wolverhampton, which is Englands arsehole. I could count the fights/scuffles ive seen out and about due to drink on one hand.
I know a few of you are older, but i really think your just jumping on the bandwagon.

I want to digress a little bit; how about drink driving in middle aged to elderly men? I often go to my local for a drink, and so many blokes will drink 3 pints and get in there car and drive home.
That pisses me off more thana few drunk and emotional youths, maybe they need re-education?

I nicked a fair few drink drivers. They ranged from 17 to almost 70. The highest readi.g was from a driving instructor, who was something stupid like 5 times over the limit.

Many, many people, drink a lot more than three pints and drive. A car can do a lit of damage when the driver is sober, but in comparison to the drunk and emotional youths, most of those youths weren't dangerous before having a pint. And it's probably a combination of drink and drugs these days.

That may well be the case some of the time.

I think what may also be part of the problem, is that more and more people nowadays are disrespectful and spoiling for a fight, sober. Drink only fuels the fire.

Just to add my view on the situation after reading all the post

Lets all keep this in perspective ppl

Getting completely trollied on alcohol is not against the law and is perfectly legal to do so

Unless you wanna start getting lairey, mouth off , cause a disturbance , then your hit with a section 5 public order offence, which doesn't really stop anyone from going out the next day and doing it all again

Wanna smoke a spliff and chill out with ya homies.... Your nicked !!!! But not for causing a disturbance or for being abusive, just cuz the law says that your not allowed to smoke or carry a bit of brown or green ! It's all wrong You don't see the ppl piling out of the coffee shops in Amsterdam wanning to to fight and kill eachother

As for the Indian restaurants who wanna keep there doors open late to serve up the drunken muppets that come through there doors after 11pm , well that's there decision to stay open, other restaurants ( non-Indian) don't take new food orders after 10.30. But I'm sure the Indian restaurants stay open only for the extra revenue they make and to over charge the drunken fools that come in and abuse them


Plus I would not worry about the racist abuse they receive, I'm sure most restaurants have some sort of revenge tactic in place, ie a bit of extra creamy substance in the cucumber raita if ya know what I mean

The only ppl I would say that I feel sorry for is the poor ambulance and hospital staff that have to clean up the mess these drunken muppets create , whether it be medically treating the drunken idiots themselves or the carnage they create to the rest of society, or being verbally or physically abused by these mindless idiots just because they want to help them . They must bloody hate working a Friday and Saturday night shift ! I know I would !

I would say that I feel for the police too ! With all the cr@p they have to put up with off the drunken public , But it looks like they are quite enjoy themselves when you watch them frontline cop shows on tv. Especially when they've got these scum bags pinned to the ground , pepper sprayed and thrown in the back of a meat wagon screaming like babies because they can't see, or complaining that there handcuffs are to tight ! LOL What poetic justice
