The rot started in the 1980's when it was thought the UK could manage as a service economy.
Pension mis-selling
Endownment mis-selling
then
PPI
...now this.
The whole financial services industry is like the wild west, but with suits on. It needs regulating.

the finance industry has created a devastatingly efficient mechanism for making the people working at or near the top of it incredibly wealthy
any benefit to anyone or anything else is purely coincidental
a truly brilliantly executed wealth re-allocation scheme, in the same way football has become a very efficient way to transfer wealth to players (and if you are Man U, the owners)
I would hazard a guess that the top 5% of the earners in the city have taken out of the banks, since the credit crunch a sum, that represents a fair percentage of total lending to the UK’s small and medium businesses
But you have to hand it to them, as I posted a few years ago they have comprehensively won the argument on how to run an economy
Imo the only two people who have been really earning their crust this last few years are Dame Angela Knight of the British Bankers Association and the guy in charge of the British Association of Pumpkin growers
but don't moan about it - accept it and become a banker

Cameron, in 2008, said, "There is too much regulation of the Banks and the Financial Sector in general" ...

With Labour you just know that the man in the street won't get shafted for the benefit of the upper crust ............... with the Tories you know that the upper class will be looked after very well indeed as the Tories are that upper crust ..... if I catch that **** Osborne with that smug grin on once more I'm going to send the thick, inbred, Eton Boy into next week!!!

You might be right - lets face it, Bliar, Mandlebrot and even Kinnick, those "born and bred" labourites, are really struggling at the moment. Even fatty two-Jags is getting limited freebies to China!

I see that the Tories have withdrawn their outrageous claims that Labour had anything to do with the LIBOR fixing scandal .....
Now, sack all Bankers - planty of people would do their job well for a tiny fraction of their wages .... I would take their houses off them, their cars off them and dump them into a Council Sink Estate!!
