Has anyone got a Cosworth?

These apparently:
Retaining Subaru's original suspension layout and major components, Cosworth and a team of chassis engineers collaborated with Bilstein and Eibach technicians to tailor a ride/handling/steering package that was ideally matched to the new model's increased performance.
Special Eibach coil springs and new Bilstein inserts, featuring unique damping characteristics, were manufactured to Cosworth's specifications. The ride height was lowered by 10 mm at the front.
The benefits of this fettling are twofold. Firstly, there is a big improvement in ride quality generally, making the Impreza easier to live with on a day-to-day basis. Secondly, its on-the-limit behaviour is more focused and composed. The damping upgrades mean that there is less pitch and roll when turning into corners, meaning that keen drivers can get back on the power earlier and make the most of the car's Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive system.

So after much messing about for very complicated reasons... It's here ... In the garage
I'm not Jeremy Clarkson but when I reversed it out of the garage this morning, my neighbours hedge fell over and his lawn died.
I've had a 'normal' sti, 330s and now the cosworth
Interior: won't win a prize but is nice and seats are great
Exterior: looks more like something out of Star wars than A Tie Fighter, everyone knows its lower but you could hardly get a piece of paper in there let alone a mud flap, mines silver with anthracite wheels - evil
So how does it drive? - my 10 year old daughter said *mild swear word* - that was amazing - like being on a rollar coaster - having just driven up to the house - hardly touching the throttle and being careful.
I think the clutch is just right - not too heavy, the stearing, will take some getting used to as is light, gear change is short and precise, a lot of bollocks been said about 'lag' etc under acceleration, but basically you can feel the torque and see the trees coming to hit you.
Oh and 3 kids wife and dog will go in it, and when not causing children to swear it behaves with aplomb in town.
A lot of above didn't apply to 330s it's a real shame this was not the mass market car Subaru came up with - I suspect the plaudits would have been very different - the price was obviosly ridiculous - to start off with - but if u can still gets your hands on one at a discount won't regret it
The one thing that does just irritate me a bit is that the front brakes are cosworth but rear left as 'normal' sti -poor I'd say
And once it's run in......

How would you compare it to the 330S specifically, interior, exterior and power delivery etc

Thanks for the photos Buster. And LOL at the missus comment, had a few of them myself over the years (comments that is!).
It looks like the fronts are stock struts, gutted, spring perch removed and then fitted with an insert and new spring perch to accept a 65mm ID spring - and there must be a new spring cup at the top also. The rears look like a complete new coilover unit with adjustable preload. All very interesting!
Is there any damping adjustment or are they fixed rate?
Cheers, Neil

There'd be some form of adjuster ****/grubscrew on the strut top under the bonnet. For the rears you'd have to remove one of the little clip in trim pieces to see the top of the shock.
Had a quick look online but struggling to find a decent under bonnet pic that shows the strut tops.

330s vs cosworth
But I prefer it like that - had loads of probs with keyless entry - like not being able to get in!!! And sat nav in 330s asked you if u where going to drive like a civilised human (you had to press yes) before sat nave came up - annoying
330s all plasticky - cosworth black inserts look kool
Cosworth ext - it's noticeablely lower - looks even better to me
Cosworth drive - goes round corners as well as Mini Cooper s works had few years ago which is amazing
Steering is really light which is scary - I think 330s was bit more forgiving
Power - well I had major probs with 330s at low speeds just couldn't get hang of clutch and revs - think way I drive - anyway blew the clutch at 8000miles
Cosworth def more drivable - torque pull from standstill feels like a (coughs) diesel (wtf), but anyhow no clutch burn now
Bearing in mind cossie still been run in overtaking is just amazing - I think someone posted before on this thread having had some real exotic cars and thought cossie was best - I've never been up there with that sort of car but I think would be very hard to find anything better than this - it truly is incredible 330s was great but without the kick in the *****
Not looked but prob some 330s going good money good car good spec - but if you really want to experience near death the Cosworth is as close as you're gonna get to HyperCar for (relatively) little cash
Hope some still available if u want one
Btw if buying second hand be wary of service book it's sricter than a dominatrix and a missing stamp may mean the engine you just blew won't be replaced - and have heard that's happened....

For me the 330 is an all round package as I wanted the toys and couldn't afford a cosworth even at these knocked down prices. Once the warranty is out a remap and a few other tweaks and a cheap cosworth it will be as I agree it's a shame the 330 wasn't more powerful, will run it and hope it doesn't go pop but if it does oh well time to forge it and go for big power.
Would be interested to know if they made any changes to the bushes, as that's meant to sharpen it all up as I need to tackle that next and if the cosworth is that much better and only has upgraded springs and rear dampers it could save a lot of cash and time

Ooooh just seen this thread, I've had my CS400 a few months now, love it.
Fitted my Kenwood Sat/Nav DVD in, fitted rear view camera which needs moved, and ordered a Blitz Carbon Racing Meter SD centre pod.
Also got my bonnet scoop grill from the auld hatch I need to fit to the cossie.
The CS400? Love it! Had a grey hatch STi PPP before with CAI and Andy Forrest Remap, the CS400 is a whole new world of Subaru fun and sounds like "thunder" according to the missus.

Any idea how many other red ones are out there?
I hadn't planned on any mods - but the blitz carbon pod with red gauges was too good to resist - getting one shipped fae Japan just now.
I'm putting my perrin front strut brace on too - cos it's some more red.
And have a Tamioka Racing / Pro-R AOS to fit - as well as the bonnet scoop grill.

There's a smart new STi one out though which twists in the middle, but only available if ye air freight from Japan.
I've ordered the gauges from a company called SRB Power. I had ordered a touch BRAIN - but then saw this new pod and it's waht I'm after. On RA Motorsport facebook page they fitted een to a new STi saloon - as soon as I found out who manufactured it - I changed touch brain order and am awaiting shipment. Hopefully this SRB power do the businesss, guy seemed good on phone.

Here's link to STi brace...

Think I've seen it in the UK at Nengun Performance - note, I've had no dealings with them so don't know how their service is... and the STi imported brace is Pricey!
