Has anyone got a Cosworth?
#92
In my experience,if it breaks they fix it,they replaced the engine in my P1 no quibble.
The Subaru dealer I use,Keith Price Abergavenny are fabulous,im so glad to be back with them.
As for the Cossie knockers...this is my 4th new scoobie..I can only compare it to the 3 ive owned,99turbo, P1 wr1.... the Cosworth WILL annihilate them for fun...different league in every respect.my opinion, Its also nice not to have to worry about modding it,which means its easier to insure. For anyone interested,my best quote was £337 off esure, tho I paid a little more and went with tesco

Thank you I think the price caused a lot of the knocking...£50k..for a scooby ..it is a lot...I learnt my lesson with the special editions years ago...if you want them 1st you gotta pay...if you wait theres always a few spare ones kicking about at much more palatable prices.

They also tried to sell the remaining cars to Subaru Singapore, but Cosworth would not warrant the engines so Subaru Singapore told them to
Very surprising they wouldn't warrant there own work.
Am pretty sure it's Cosworth who are warranting the engines hence the original price tag of 55k.

411 ??? these cars were only ever 395 bhp or 400ps
the si drive isnt a map button on the cosworth as far as I'm aware, its all to do with throttle sensitivity same as the hatch in std or 330's trim

as a minimum apparantly...only hearsay off dealer,an independent test 411.4 ...any owners been on the dyno?

I accept that you could build a stunning car for that kind of price if modding was your thing - I looked at a heavily modded STI saloon before buying the Cosworth. It was about cheaper, and probably as quick, and it did have a different turbo that reduced the lag, so a great fun car to drive. However, residuals would have been worse, insurance was higher, and the warranty was limited, so the Cosworth was an all round better bet. Actually, price wise, the modded car would not have been far off - I guess once you are changing the pistons, suspension, turbo, exhaust, wheels, interior, it has to all add up.....so I got a package deal rather than the build your own, and the Cosworth name with it.
The Cosworth as a car makers limited edition worked for me - this is my daily drive, so warranty is important, so 60K/3 years was what I needed, and is what i got. They must have faith in the car to honour that, and I know that it will be honoured. I have to keep my side - servicing intervals are 6K, and I keep a close eye on the oil levels and general condition of the car.
This is only my 2nd Impreza (actually the first one was a WRX and was my wifes!!), but its my 14th Subaru counting what we run at work, so I know that Crossroads provides the service and backup I need because they always do.
I'm not sure what else out there seriously touches the Cosworth - AWD with blistering performance but with some practicality, and that does not have you down as a totally flash git!....aside from modding an STI, what would you have looked at as an alternative?

I'm not knocking it Mikey as it sounds a great car, key thing for me though is that a Jap hatch + a few mods will give 400+ hp so purely imho £50k seems a premium too far.

Gorgeous cars!
I'd be interested to see a comparison with something like a GTR or 911 Turbo though, as if i had nearly £50k, I'd opt for one of those instead.

Or even a jdm r205 with a few mods 400+ easy at less than half the price and strong reliable engines

I do like the cosworth impreza, they look great , over priced for what is, in my opinion,
most people who bought one seem pleased with them ,
seen this thread below , is this the same red car above ?

Although I get bored of others who don't own one and don't live with one and have probably never even driven one saying its a crap car!! - but I guess I better get used to Internet forums!!
What I was interested in was what others might feel to be a better car for the money, other than buying and modding a uk or jap import. A gtr was interesting but more money still and I'd never getvthe dog in that !! 911 no chance new.
Audi s4 but with all the bits on similar price, and given that Audi are the new BMW, not for me (and the local dealer is terrible!!!) rs6 way too rich - lotus evora was interesting but not practical enough....

I know - I did not mean it to sound defensive !!!!the price point is too high, yes I would agree. I think you can assume I negotiated a deal I was happy with - but I'm not going to go further than that.

Is the question what else can you buy for 40k? I am on third new Subaru but I have to say that 40k is not in their sweetspot as a brand. No Subaru retails for a price anyway near an M BMW or RS Audi or GTR in their largest markets - Japan and US.
It is not to say the CS is a bad car - I in fact rate it - but I would never justify the purchase on value for money. M beemers, ANGs, etc are all capable cars that can be had very nearly new for that money. The Corvette C6 is there, too, and all the one year old GTRs (I owned one) and porkers. All of the above come with free weaping skirt, so I assume you are married - otherwise I would be jumping off a balcony right now if I were you.
The CS is s flyer of a Sube but you are a brave man to follow through front up the cash. Kudos to you for that.

Quite impressive, but i can't help but think what Immy's 400bhp R205 would do to the above mentioned.
I'll dig the magazine out and qoute exactly.
My point is for that kind of performance £50k is good.
