Lol he doesn't have anything to do with Ramadan. Mubarak means sort of saying greetings, like happy Ramadan or Ramadan greetings etc

Its like someone who doesn't know about Happy Christmas thinking it may mean telling Chris's Mas i.e. mums to be happy. Then they may ask why the hell Christopher has to have more than one mum, and what on earth should they be happy for. Or, why are they sullen at first place??? For God's sake, develop your GK, Leslie!

I've tried and tried to, literally, decipher it. But no, simply can't do it.

Oh God, Joz! Read again!

Ok, I'll go slowly.

Les first asked what Mubarak was, correct? He was explained by your holy self and Wurzel that Mubarak means the ex-president of Egypt. He believed that ROTFL! Then he further asked what Mubarak had to do with Ramadan/does he own that, too. Another ROTFL! It was silly for him not to know what Ramadan was, and not to work out what Mubarak meant. All he needed to do was read the thread properly, and Google the phrase. Perhaps he was joking, but he created an opportunity for his leg to be pulled bleddy hard.

So, I joked as silly as his general knowledge i.e. GK by exemplifying with Happy Christmas. To understand what I meant, separate Chistmas into two words, you get Chris + mas. Make a sense out of it, if you know English as your 5th language, and if you have same GK for Happy Christmas as Leslie has for Ramadan Mubarak. Thus you can come up with something as stupid as Christmas being Chris's mums, where mas is a plural of mum with an 's' to end the word 'Ma'. Got it? It was intentionally silly to equate to Leslie's GK. If it were sillier, even better to teach him a lesson- literally.

However, I am bantering with Les. He knows me well.

Got your PM TH...

None taken TH - all my posts have meant to be pure banter (no aggressiveness, etc.)

Hell it's Friday! And the Olymps. opening ceremony is on when we get in. Let's either be in colossal awe of it ... Or cry laughing.

I actually REALLY hope it will be the former (from a proud Englisher/Britisher). "Let's do thiiiiiis!....."

Good. I do pm peeps to let them know I am only playing. Most know this, but I do like to clarify to my new humour 'victims' that I mean no offence.

I know you are cool at humour and banter, Joz. Your fried English breakfast thread is a legend thread, man.

LOL you could meet people in real, but still won't become their best mates or banter with them, because they do not have similar mindset to yours. Mindsets can be conveyed via posts, and the posts are generally sufficient to work out whether a person is coming from the same planet or not. It is possible that some people who own similar mindsets might meet up in real, and such meetings can be a good laugh. It also happens that some people post different to what they actually are; in their real life. "Lion here and a ***** cat there" type of things do happen. In a nutshell, this world is an interesting place.

I image that most muslims will be quietly looking forward to when Ramadan moves to longer nights and shorter days?

Nowt to eat between 4am and 10pm is a far harder gig than nowt to eat between 8am and 4pm!
