So you're only changing out one of the rods?

Is that normal? If it was me I would be future proofing and changing all 4 rods.

What size engine is it? 2.0L?

Why price just piston rings?

At the price on parts so far, if it's a 2.0L, you may as well go for a 2.1L stroker kit. IMO

Had a complete change of plan and the car is with a well known builder in the north east.
Now I know the job will be done properly.
Lesson learnt !!

Should of asked on one of the local forums in the north east tyneteesscoobies or Nesf
For advice first
Alan at AS performance is your man for those jobs

Did think its seemed cheap a main dealer at £2200

At £60-£80 am hour charges though a rebuild would be a lot more then that so I assume you have given up with the dealer despite him being the best mechanic in the uk ?

When the quote ended up over £3100, it was beyond a joke.
Doesn't matter how good of a mechanic he is, im not paying that.
I did ask on NESF and the reason the car went to Sybaru first was mainly for an official report to help me out. I'm having a battle with a claim from the garage , where I purchased the vehicle... Long story.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has helped out on pricing and given advice here.
Should have the car back on the road in a week or so.
