We are running low ET 17" on the K-sport 8pots 356mm.

If you have bigger brakes up to 356mm low ET 17" will take them

Looks,depends on the wheels

My experience was oposite , The car felt unsettled with the standart 205/50/16 ... less grippy , much more unstable specialy on higher speeds , winding roads. I must admit more fun, but you more drivers ability involved as well. 17's thought with 45 tyres helped to gain more traction , less wheel spin... With the suporting mods , springs , Arbs etc, and the most important proper geometry setup 17's would be best for a classic to munch the tarmac, and handle the tourque , as most nowadays imprezas are boosting a least 40-50 bhp on top of the standart power.... If you want your car to be balaced you have to upgrade things gradually....

I am running 18 inch Rays 57F V speed alloys with 245/40's on my 2005 STI, The handling is much better and wheels are noticeably lighter than the standard 17's. they look great too

And no I don't
No mate its wall to wall pot holes I run 235-40/18 to get a bit of relief from the bangin and crashing. Am refurbing some 17" Rota's for winter wheels so will soon be able to compare the difference.
