I don't like the DCCD, it's a pain in the **** on a daily driver, I'd rather my Hawk not have it!

I use my car daily, the only noticeable thing it does is make the car 'clonk' when doing a sharp turn, especially when in reverse if still in 'auto' (the wife always thinks it's broken). I'm constantly having to turn it to the green setting to stop the noises and then back to auto when traveling at speed. I see no benefit of it whatsoever on a car that's just used as a daily driver.

I've never heard mine make a clonk noise when turning sharply??
Maybe your wife is right!

I thought the same when I had a Hawk. Just left it on auto all the time. Never tracked the car so thought no point having it. More expensive if it breaks too.

Im running a non DCCD 2005 Blob now. I wasnt prepared to pay the premium for the widetrack. I'll just add some spacers for the extra width lol

Sounds like you have different spec tyres front/rear.

It's when performing slow turns that it happens, so similar situations to parking, reversing around a corner etc. Dealer told me to take it out of auto to stop it, posts on here confirmed it was normal. Tyres are the same all around.

Yours is a hawkeye, which has a tighter centre diff lock than previous models, which is probably why you feel this more than the previous generation cars.

Never been an issue with my MY05, and it certainly handles better than a none DCCD equipped Impreza. The hawkeye does have a more front biased setup which i've always thought a backwards step.

Mine doesn't and never has wound up in auto mode. The only time it does is when the diff is fully open.... Which is exactly as expected afaik.

Hawkeye here for clarity.

Just buy a rear arb and set it on **** out position 3
Just more to go wrong in my eyes
Unless its used on track
Which I recon most adj diff cars are
So finding a unmolested model is difficult

Yeah... but they hardly go wrong!

I seen more rear diffs get mashed than any centre diff go for a burton.

Your eyes need testing.

I've been driving DCCD equipped Impreza's for over a decade, never had a single issue with the gearbox/centre diff.

Buy my WR Blue Hawk sti £7500 and spend the balance getting it mint.

Never tracked this one. Only driven it from Hampshire to South London. Seems a nice car but stone chips need sorting. Mechanically spot on with recent oem clutch and brakes all round.

Just my personal input
I wouldn't buy one unless I new it's untracked history a tracked car can break in 10 laps a Road car wouldn't break at all
Just my view

Your opinion, but one I would not agree with in as black and white as you state (if I understand you correctly). Maintenance history and owner history are very important and more important than track vs road use IMO.
