Firstly, congrats on getting out of Burton ![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
12 and a bit miles for me - 20 ish mins if I drive and a pb of 37 mins when cycling (usually somewhere around 40)
Although I do take alternate longer routes in and home if I feel like it:

I remember when i would cycle into the city through 2 parks and along the canals, about 30 mile trip and was great in the summer. The only obstacle to navigate round would be the local canal winos who would be in the same spot every afternoon drinking.Sometimes though on hot days as you got nearer the city,it was as if the air had got thicker breathing it in,being along the canal you could smell what i can only describe as metal/oil from the factories. Then out into the parks/countryside and feel of lighter clearer air and the smell of grass, checking out the women sunbathing,it was at this point i would often chill out and pedal much slower
