What was originally said, and repeated in his second post. It's his opinion, and frankly it's tamer than a lot of things I've seen on here in the last 7 years.

And no read the main topic I said I still need to fit the altinator tensioning kit. Why would I leave it flopping about with no tension?????
A think most of you are either too ignorant to read or are now DELIBRITLY trying to argue I have said time and time again it is not finished NOT FINISHED I still need to fit tensioner which is obvious, belt again obvious , cleaning which is again clear, hoses fitted clearly and other bits..... Why arent people rain the pic as a pinch of salt and relishing it is not finished?????
There's are a few sending out a corect view and comments yet others throwing out insults and Mickywrx it was an opinion it was an insult a comment/opinion would be summit like I see where ure goin but needs tidying IMHO ". It's not difficult to be diplomatic is it?

im new here to imprezas and this tuning lark on these engines but i own a car forum and know how posts can go south very quickly especially when its something yourve spent ages working on and are proud of it enough to take and post a picture of it to show other owners
so one comment can easily touch a nerve, the trick is to pick those you reply to and ignore the others you dont like
replying with anger just adds fuel to the fire and reading all the posts made me laugh so then others like myself join in
i admire what yourve done and the effort involved best of luck with your alternator i look forward to the "finished" pictures.

It's strikes me very plainly that you do not know what your talking about as you have never done one and don't know nothin about them so have no grounds to comment and those are the facts !
My altinator is hanging because very simply I have no bought the bracket to tension it yet not difficult is it to understand!??
And if you had taken the time to look correctly instead of being ignorant which you have been you will have noticed that there's no hose from icv to inlet , no vent from oil catch can , wrap not added to second intercooler pipe hence not finished ...
N if you honestly think I'm being ignorant just shows your arrogance as a " constructive critism" I can gladly take in board but clear insults is stupid

fair play for doing it yourself, its looking good so far and the rest can be sorted.
as you say its not finished.
i personally dont like wrap as i think it looks untidy so i would powder coat.
have you considered this on your pipework?? maybe black to match your manifold as that looks great.
did you paint it yourself.

Yeah I've been in touch with mattryrb5 from pole position about his bracket kit that's why I've left enough space as his are 2 metal pieces which I'm sure you have seen them on here for sale . Your kit looks really nice did you make it yourself?

Coming in a little late but this thread interests me as planning to reverse inlet also. Will not comment on the negative comments as one man's riches is another's rubbish it is all down to personal tastes. The world would be a boring place if everyone liked the same things. Anyway back to topic.
I have a 1999 classic with a 2004 Sti motor and am wanting to reverse the inlet anyone done a new age inlet or know who can do it ?
In a moment of madness bought one of those chrome ones from eBay also sounds like not many recommend like I said a moment of madness...... Does anyone know if you can reverse them as not sure if to go for the standard inlet and rotate or this one believe it is a Magnus copy one and someone mentioned problems with welding if anyone knows please pm me...Good luck with finishing your project.

If not AVCS heads, fairly sure you can just turn the manifold around, not 100% certain though.

fair shout, anything attempted by yourself is satisfying, regardless on how tidy it is or not, i like it, 99% of people who comment anything behind a computer screen wouldnt say it in person, so unless they do just ignore it

and it state it went back a couple of times, also a few of the tuners on here commented and said not to bother, if its performance you want then stick to what you know 
if its looks you after then knock or self out

I hate to say it because I admire anybody willing to have a go themselves, but, it all looks a bit rushed and really doesnt look that good.
Take a step back and think about it. With a little bit of time and patience it could look really nice. Youve done the hard bit now it just needs making pretty.
Good effort and im sure with a little more work it will look just fine. Dont take offense, you cant please everyone but the odd critical comment is never a bad thing

Just a point. You don't have to use the other mounting point of the alternator, just let it swing as low as it can so it rests on the bottom of the bracket, then fix it with the top bolt. Belt tension can then be adjusted by reusing the OE winder mechanism to adjust a bespoke plate with an idler pulley.

Sorry mate it does look a bit messy but 10 out of 10 for trying, regarding the alternator tensioner this is how i did mine by reusing an old timing belt bearing as an additional pulley, and just a simple m8 bolt to tension the belt, this has been on the car for over 3 years and works perfect and way cheaper than any kit availably
As said i think the comments that may come across as negative are just pointing out how to do the job propperly.
And as for doing things on a budget thats just what i do and its the attention to detail that count not just bolting on expensive parts.
keep at it you will get there in the end
