Counter punch. South Korean court says Samsung didn't copy Apple design.

I just can not see how this is some sort of victory for Apple, the judgement goes beyond stupid the more you read about it.

It would be impossible for this jury to come to such a decision in a short space of time, even if they were all experts in mobile electronics and patent law.

If the jury had actually taken the time necessary to properly deliberate this, then it would have been a six month process, the sheer longevity of deliberation is also not for the layperson with no given field of knowledge in the subject.

Samsung were being judged by a group of people in a country with rife nationalism and with a general prejudice against Japan/Korea who proved too stupid to get out of jury duty.

Maybe but the average Joe isn't a fanboi and the networks that actually buy the phones will want the best deal and if a Samsung smartphone is a $100 cheaper than an iPhone, they will push them more.

We value originality and innovation and pour our lives into making the best products on earth. And we do this to delight our customers, not for competitors to flagrantly copy.
We owe a debt of gratitude to the jury who invested their time in listening to our story. We were thrilled to finally have the opportunity to tell it. The mountain of evidence presented during the trial showed that Samsung’s copying went far deeper than we knew.
The jury has now spoken. We applaud them for finding Samsung’s behavior willful and for sending a loud and clear message that stealing isn’t right.
I am very proud of the work that each of you do.
Today, values have won and I hope the whole world listens.

Consumers have the right to choices, and they know what they are buying when they purchase Samsung products. In actual fact there is no negotiation, Apple set the cost of the handsets and the the network providers either take it or leave it. The only leeway for consumers wanting the iPhone is on the tariff.

The LG KE850, also known as the LG Prada,[1] is a touchscreen mobile phone made by LG Electronics. It was first announced on December 12, 2006.[2] Images of the device appeared on websites such as Engadget Mobile on December 15, 2006.[3] An official press release showing an image of the device appeared on January 18, 2007.[1] Sales start in May 2007. It was the first mobile phone with a capacitive touchscreen. LG Prada sold 1 million units[4][5] in the first 18 months.

The iPhone (play /ˈaɪfoʊn/ EYE-fohn) is a line of smartphones designed and marketed by Apple Inc. which run on iOS, originally iPhone OS. The first iPhone was unveiled by Steve Jobs, then CEO of Apple, on January 9, 2007,[1] and released on June 29, 2007.

So, the LG was officially announced on Jan 18th 2007, over a week after the iPhone was announced. Do you not think Apple were developing the iPhone before they announced it. And you wonder why they didn't sue?? Oh and it was ****.

I read it. The official announcement for the LG was after the iPhone. Your words. Apple could probably have released some sham announcement 6 months before that, but that's not their style.

Give Apple some credit Tony, without them you probably wouldn't have a job, the iPhone almost makes up for the lack of 3G coverage in Wales.

That's right Tony, and Apple could have announced unofficially in 2005, that's 'year' before LG but they chose not too.

Look, why don't you give this up, it's pointless and I don't want you to have to take another few weeks off Scoobynet like the last few times you tried to be clever.

Dont need to take time off Jack, but I do enjoy doing other activities on my weeks off

Not everyone is like Apple and has an all singing, all dancing press conference, alot of companies will say "we are releasing xyz" then do a press conference rather than "this is what we are releasing"

Apples release strategy is the envy of the electronics world. They don't need to release images to web sites months before an official press release like your example. They announce a product and in most cases you can then buy it, if not instantly within a reasonable timescale. They truly are masters of product release.

Why are people comparing the look of the samsung software to the iphone when that is the android os which has nothing to do with samsung?
