If it was Blue, that was probably me! I didn't notice any other Skylines attending.
Had a blast (literally through Dartford!) The anti-lag Evo in Westferry was my most memorable moment - mental exhaust bang when lifting off . It hit you with some real percussive force.

I like many got somewhat lost on stage 1. Followed the new route down the A13 but was surprised when loads of cars pulled off too soon - felt like Billy-no-mates with only a couple of scoobs for company.

Summer is definitely a better idea. Not for the temperature but the light level. Maybe we will be able to see where we are going!

One thing we need to do is stop the blasting off from Thurrock. We get too split up at the traffic lights and by the time you get to the A13 there are not many of us still together. Maybe a slow cruise up the A13 to regroup may help?

I missed last year due to work, but did the previous two years. Turnout was not as great this year but met some nice chap and chapesses. Can't remember all you names (that's what age does to your memory!)

Hopefully wont get too many speeding tickets. Especially considering the pace I set through Dartford

Looking forward to a Summer run

It's ALWAYS been the Halloween weekend and the close to the season. No need to change it in my book.

I say summer, ESC seems to be on the wave of a fresh start with more people making a great effort after a few years of dormancy . Nothing to say we can't do two, the more events the more buzz around the place.

I'd definitely be up for a summer one in ADDITION to the regular one - the cold weather on the night and the flippin' rain while trying to wash the car beforehand was the only drawback

As for the route - I wish I'd have trusted my satnav more- I knew some of the waypoints were going screw it up a bit before we set off, but I would have been closer to the intended route than I was following the cars doing the old route

Mike I saw you driving round and round at Westferry

I agree with a summer run, light being the main reason

Summer run is the way forward, this year was great but to cold and to much confusion, I think everyone seems to be singing from the same song sheet now in terms of route, so one around June/July is a win/win in my book

Default Evening Standard

In the Evening Standard:

http://www.standard.co.uk/news/londo...p-8281814.html

---------------------------------------

People’s lives are being put at risk by the growing trend for late-night car races through road tunnels in the East End, an MP has warned.

Some “tunnel running” rallies have involved more than 400 high-performance cars being driven through the city at one time, leading to comparisons with The Fast and the Furious, a series of action films about street racing.

Jim Fitzpatrick, the Labour MP for Poplar and Limehouse, is calling on the Met to ban the rallies and use barriers and dispersal zones on nights when they are due to take place.

Tunnel running originated in London in 2004 when small groups of car enthusiasts began to gather and demonstrate the noise of their engines, amplified when driven through tunnels.

Since then, scores of unofficial clubs have emerged, with members meeting online to arrange rallies — and the craze has spread to cities around the world.

Videos of cars roaring through tunnels into the early hours are posted on YouTube. Mr Fitzpatrick said the starting lines for many of the events are in car parks in Dartford and Essex within reach of the A13, before drivers speed through the Dartford and Blackwall tunnels and around the Limehouse Link and Westferry Circus.

Fans say they are not breaking the speed limit or any laws and have raised thousands of pounds for charity. An event last month, Miss Banzar, attracted about 285 Japanese cars and in the past few years has reportedly raised £15,000 for charities.

But Mr Fitzpatrick said: “These people are nutters who are putting their lives and the lives of others at risk. I  want to see them banned. I have had complaints from constituents who say the noise and the speed is awful.

“If people want to race they should get a proper licence and go to Silverstone. They seem to think they are in a Hollywood movie, but these are real roads used by real people.”

Organisers of the rallies like to remain anonymous, but David Grant, an American classic car enthusiast who has been on a tunnel run in the East End, said: “I don’t see the problem with them. They aren’t breaking the law; people don’t break the speed limit.”

I think MSOC do there tunnel run through the Hindhead Tunnel , It's a little too far out to include it into the london tunnels of the ESC tunnel run night

Yep it's good that they mentioned the charity aspect

Shame Mr Fitzpatrick doesn't take the same view as us, that we do this for the love of our cars, the fun of the tunnels and to raise some money for small charities that could really do with the help

Guessing that if the money was being raised for propping up the goverment coffers, then there wouldn't be any objection !!

Oh silly me , we do !!! With all the extra petrol being consumed by US on the night, the government does get a little extra to bump up there coffers

Well the police was informed this year by dannyboygti , they never got back to him or said that this event was not allowed to take place , NO presence from the police either at Lakeside services , so i guess that they know that we are not too much trouble , apart from a little extra noise pollution !

Even in Westferry circus , when we saw a few police pass through, they never moved us on

I think these politicians need to be focusing on the state of the economy and the lack of jobs for the younger generation, and not trying to poke there noses into any other business that don't really concern them !!!

Rant over

Since they blocked the ring road off outside Lakeside the poliz don't take much notice of lakeside anymore.

Bloody annoying when your only trying to turn around but end up on the a13 London bound...

Heard all this crap before with the evening echo, every couple of months there will be a little article going on about the issues of cruisers and racers Southend.

Nothing ever comes of it.
