James, is this anything to do with the parking space, my MX-5, and the old scrubber?

call the police and tell them he was racially abusing some muslim in the street, the police will probably remand him and question him for 7 days

Get the cops to sort it, you'll zero sympathy from the law if you get physical
Age is only a number! If a 35yr old is banging a 16yr old it's ok
If a fit bird is banging a really ugly bloke it's ok.
So why can't us keyboard worriers bang his face on a curb
Like American history X. Besides he is old enough to be responsible for his actions and expect the punishment.

Reguardless of age I would still set my dogs on them. They would run and my dogs would give chase. They wouldn't do anything as they are wimps but it would be fun to watch...

spread the word in your street that you have cctv pointed at the car , and you know who did it. Then see what his reaction is. Mention that you are going to police unless the person offers to pay cash to fit it.

Double bluff him and tell him you already have it on video, watch the reaction and with any luck he'll squirm and admit it!

An indirect threat might work. For example, stop him and say "have you noticed anyone hanging around who might have scratched my car?" he'll probably say no. Then just say that you're looking for them, tell him you WILL catch them and when you get your hands on them.. Blah blah.

It usually works and you've also not directly threatened them

I had a problem with some kids round my way who were harrasing an elderly neighbour. He came to me shaken up that they'd been targeting his car. They were too young to go wading in to them but one day I saw them a few streets away, I swung the car round and jumped out. Rushed up to them and said "you lads haven't seen anyone harrasing my neighbour, some lads threw a fence stake at his car and he's pretty shaken up" was met with lots of head down and "nah mate" so I said "well, let me know if you see anything because I'm looking for them and they're going to be in for some grief"

Never even saw them in our road again, let alone had any trouble.

I reckon if I'd directly threatened them it could have made things worse. But doing it this way gets the point accross and almost makes them feel like they're on your side.

Burn his house down.

While he's in it.

Just tell him not to do it again.

What he said! You'll just look like a scumbag for picking on an old man too!

Try and get it on CCTV; you can get kits that don't cost much these days and record to your HD.

If it is him, then go to the police. Don't confront him as even if you're peaceful, he may claim you intimidated him etc.... His behavior is hardly that of a model citizen after all!

I reckon your only safe course of action is to report him to the coppers. He might even be hoping that you will personally have a go at him.

There is no excuse for causing wilful damage to someone else's property. His age/status is irrelevant and I think you've shown a lot of restraint not putting the **** in to an early grave. If you tolerate this James it's just giving him free licence and increasing his bravado to cause more damage.
