I've gone and done it!

So back to H.Samuels yesterday to see what can be done (needed resizing anyway) and they said it was scratched and refused to let us exchange for a more expensive ring. Young girl behind the counter said "You wouldn't wear a T-shirt and take it back". The Mrs had tried it on and taken it off since as it didn't fit.
So, came home, sent a fairly irate email to several high-up people at H.Samuel's and their customer services, including several pictures of where the ring was supposedly damaged, and one of the sales girl wearing the ring when I was thinking of buying it. Then decided to drive 10 miles to the next branch local to me and they knew who I was as soon as I walked in. There must have been an email circulating warning them of some nutter trying to exchange an engagement ring.
The extremely nervous sales lad also said the ring was scratched underneath after consulting his manager who was hiding out the back. I asked him to have a look at the same ring behind the counter and what do you know! the same minute marks on the underside of the brand new ring also.
Funny, the shop emptied once the salesman admitted there were imperfections in their stock.
Anyway, ring all sorted (lol) and mrs back to being on cloud 9. She even treated herself to "perfect wedding" magazine yesterday .

Surely a scratch can be easily polished out? They can erase engravings ffs. Smells like bull.
I was going to say you get what you pay for at H.Samuels but thats not really true either way you look at it. I'm glad I took some advice and when to an independent as they were great. I had concerns about my mrs liking my choice but they said if she didnt she could change it for one she did like or even design one. I picked the ring but preferred a different diamond so they made it up for me. So good we got both our wedding rings from the same place - when you get to that part I can recommend Christian Bauer.
Oh and congrats. Only got married in May this year myself. The lead up will seem never ending but I had such a great time on our wedding day and it's nice and relaxing afterwards as honeymoon then nothing to do other than sort out thank you cards and wedding photo's/

You do realise women are crafty beggars dont you ? Friend has the same ring . . . . .yeah right. My wife wrangled a new engagement ring out off me as her "gold one didint match her platinum wedding ring." So muggins here had to buy a platinum engagement ring AFTER we were married ! Next will be the eternity ring which has to have been thought up by a woman ! Surely a wedding wing is an eternity ring ?
