Ok, may be that is more Jake. I'll give you that!

In all seriousness, as I have said on this thread already, I do like the look of the 5. It hasn't gone the way of other manufacturers, i.e. making them into a mini laptop.
My mates HTC One X is ridiculous and only lasts about 7 hours probably due to the size of the screen alone.

The materials used in iPhone 5's construction are also quite impressive and I do like the look of the screen. My boss has the iPhone 4s and the screen is better than that on my HTC Desire S.
That's not to say that the Desire S screen is bad, but the 4's did appear to be 'sharper'.
But, my boss along with the other 3 people with iPhones here all say the same thing - making & receiving calls is not one of its 'better skills'.

They are all on o2 contracts as am I. I can't even remember the last time I lost a call.
May be they are all lying, I don't know. But I don't know why they would.
In fact, I would believe them more than a lot of people on here as they are company phones.

Any way, it's a long way off to my contract renewal date in May, so lots of time to decide.

A colleague of mine has a i4 and its terrible for keeping a signal.
But I've had 4 and 4S and can't say I've had a problem.

I tried android with my wife's phone I just couldn't get on with it I hated the App Store as any old tripe got put on it and when I found the official app it wasn't as good compared to the iOS version

It's the inbuilt cripple that Microsoft put in Windows to stop Apple software working properly.

Gotta love this

37 pages, mostly of anti apple diatribe lol.

The simple fact is that when HTC or Samsung release a new phone, no one really gives a ****. When Apple do, it makes the news headlines, and multiple page threads on here. And that cannot be overlooked.

Some points that many people posting on this thread forget.

99.999% of the world's population are not in IT

As a result they don't care about the detailed specification.

They do, however, care about ease of use, asthetics, functionality, practicality and tactility. What they see and touch is what they make a judgement call on.

Is a Galaxy S3 better than an iphone? No, not if you don't like how it works, feels, looks. And the same is true in reverse.

Same with itunes. For 99.999% of the population it does exactly what they expect it to do. yes, its better on OSX than on windows, but I managed fine with it on windows for years. Wife and I have got multiple Apple devices running from one apple ID with multiple email adresses and it works juts fine. No duplication, no overlap, but at the same time the ability to buy an app once and share it as we see fit. And I'm just a user, far from an expert. How anyone struggles to use itunes is beyond me.

I had a look at and a play with an iphone 5 today. Is it a big jump from a 4s? - for the average user, not really. But it is a bigger jump from a 4, and a masisve leap from a 3GS

Asthetically it's a work of phone art. Looks and feels really nice in the hand. Seriously fast in operation.

Also (on the back of some of the comments on this thread) had a look and a play with a Galaxy S3. Its also very quick, nice screen (nothing between them really in quality - although I suspect the iphone has a sightly higher pixel density) Bit it feels just a bit less well made. And **** me is it big. To big for me, to be honest.

Is the iphone5 a game changer? No, but then neither is the Galaxy. Is it a positive step forward for Apple - unquestionably yes.

Is it "better" than its competition? Well here's the thing. It doesn't really matter.

It's best smartphone running iOS currently available, and for users who prefer that operating system to android that is key.

It's a bit like the Nikon v Canon debate. Both are very good at what they do, they're just different. Each brand will have their fans, and to suggest that one is "****" compared to the other, or to focus on petty unimportant details - seriously, as an example, wtf does it matter how many megapixels the front facing camera has??? - is borderline pathetic.

The iphone5 is a seriously nice bit of kit. Its better than a 4s. It will sell well and be a commercial success, and deservingly so.

In all fairness to Jack, he's pretty much just posted the facts and let all the haters hate.

Some of you have serious phone insecurity issues, that's for sure. I stopped playing top trumps when I was about 12. Clearly some folk never grow up.

Will I get a 5 to replace my 4? Probably. I like how it looks, feels and works and because it out performs the 4 (which I will pass on to Mrs devildog to replace her 3gs). I'll stick with Apple because iOS does everything I need it to, I like it, my phones have performed impeccably and I can't be arsed changing OS just for the sake of change. Like the Nikon v Canon debate, I've invested in a system that I'm happy with.

And for me, and the vast majority of people buying smartphones, no amount of ultimately pointless detailed spec comparisons by technical web based resources is going to influence that.

That's the issue Jack though, they are not haters. Someone who doesn't worship Apple is a hater in your eyes. Most of the people who you called haters, including me, have Apple stuff.

So, if you say you're dangling a lemon, you're just causing trouble, so it makes you a troll.

If you're sincere, you're a fanboy, which is it?

You just don't like the fact that there are people who don't think as much as you do of Apple

Oh i could write a book. Non-intuitive as has been said before on here. How they haven't radically altered it to make it more user-friendly is what is beyond me. But plenty of people like it so it probably just needs more continuous use than i give it.

Er....thanks for that.....that post is far too senisble to belong in a thread like this.

Right back on topic.....more glitches and quality issues hit the iPhone 5, they just keep rolling in!!

Hmm, the maps.apple.com link opens on maps.google.com when you're not on iOS. Slick.

+1

Not really something I want to waste my time with either.
Not a problem Apple fans as they obviously have time on their hands considering how many queue up days before the release of the next one.

That's a big old rant for someone who thinks that it doesn't matter which phone is better.

I really can't see what the problem is.

Most people on here are not 'Anti Apple', they are just people expressing opinions about a particular brand. Some like it and some don't. But those who do like the iPhone (such as yourself) seem to take offense to anyone who thinks otherwise.

They're wrong, it's an A9 as used in the Galaxy but the Galaxy has four cores that's why it's slower.
