Normal is in parentheses since this is your view of what normal is

iOS maps are fvcking **** there is no other way to describe them. I have just had to change my work address to just the postcode because Apple maps cant resolve the address and postcode for reminders etc through Siri. Tried on a 4s under iOS5 and it works absolutely fine, thanks to Google maps integration - Apple maps just falls over.

It stings a bit when you have to do something you didn't before, one step backwards, two forward is the way I see it. My address was never on Google Maps and isn't on iOS Maps, Google Maps would direct me to somewhere close iOS maps just rejects my address, asking Siri for directions home fails. Luckily I know the town I live in so ask for that instead. Turn by turn navigation and 3D maps more than make up for the inconvenience for me.

Hehe, I wish I didn't!.

Nah its handy when you say to Siri "remind me to call such and such when I leave work", or "remind me to pick up some toilet paper when I leave work"

Am i looking in the wrong places as I keep reading that android phones are so much cheaper but the GS3 16gb which is the phone that keeps being compared to the i5 is £450 unlocked compared to £529 for i5 16gb. Not a massive difference at all?

It's a nice trick, I tried the location thing in Find Friends, worked a treat announcing my arrival but obviously dented the battery. I use 'Leave Here' for my reminders but obviously that doesn't work in all situations.

The comeback will be that they bought a 16gb and a huge memory card for less than a 64gb iPhone.

They aren;t hugely cheaper - The S3 from my provider is available on the same contract for the same amount of data/minutes/texts , the only difference is the handset for the iPhone 5 is £49 and the GS3 is £29.

To be fair the S3 is a stunning phone, but there were 3 reasons for me sticking with apple

1. My investment in the app store
2. The actual handset is too big for my liking
3. The unpredictability of what version of android is going to be released for what phone and what apps are going to work.

I have had a play with the S3 though at is is very, very good. My other potential choice was the Nokia 920 when it is released - I really like what Microsoft have doen with windows phone - I wish Apple would adopt updating tiles - Hopefully iOS7 will start to go there.

The headset one? Push on the top right corner and see if works. Could be a loose connection

I know YOU could Tel

As I've said it works better on OSX (under which OS it probably is more intuative) but yes, you probably just need to use it more.

Lol. Maybe it is - although one man's sensible post is another man's rant, apparently

So, I pre ordered one today on a better deal than I'm on and the handset will cost me significantly less than I can sell my wife's 3gs for, let alone my existing 4. That's a net saving to me for more minutes and more texts. Win all round.

Oh, and if it does have any faults, I'll simply book an appointment, walk into my local Apple store and they will replace it for me, no questions, no hassle (and certainly no sending it off to be repaired whilst leaving me without a phone for God knows how long)

Well let's check shall we.... I'm bored.

SIII 16Gb - £500:
http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/buy/SAMSUNG_GALAXY_S_3
iPhone 5 64Gb - £700:
http://store.apple.com/uk/browse/hom...iphone/iphone5

64Gb Micro SD card - £37:
Amazon Amazon

So in comparison

SIII £537 vs 5 £700

That's only a saving of £163!!

I still have an iPhone though

No , I'd still rather a perfectly usable android/other phone for half the cost

Another iPhone 5 glitch, this time affecting the camera. I don't think any phone has been afflicted with as many faults in it's life time let alone in one week, you can't make this up!! This is what you get for having a bean counter run the show.

I dropped off my S3 off for repair yesterday and have been given a 'loan' handset which is the most basic Samsung android phone possible which I am none too impressed about.

I asked about how long it would be away and I was told 3 weeks and any less is a bonus, blinking thing isn't even 3 months old yet and the micro USB port is FUBAR'd.

Before I left the shop I asked about a sim free iPhone 5 32GB, because if they had one available I would have bought it on the spot rather than having to endure using the 'loaner' piece of poo for 3 weeks.

I am off to Sweden on Tuesday on a business trip / excuse for a 3 day session of debauchery and it looks like I will have to take either my iPad 2 or Nexus 7 for internet use and email - the screen size of the loan handset is no bigger than a postage stamp.

Anyway once the S3 comes back from being replaced or repaired then it will be up for sale as I am going back to an iPhone, nothing wrong with Android but the backup or lack of it has destroyed any confidence I have in the S3.

You should factor in resale value. The iPhone will be worth £450.00 when the S3 is only £100.00.

People are selling the 64gig 4s for about £320 now and when you consider it would cost you £300 up front on a normal contract thats only £20. I got my S2 for nothing and sold it 12 months later for £170 just for a quick easy sale.

Good stuff, I love a good panorama. Nice that you won't have to run an App when you upgrade.
