not sure what the bhp would be on my ep3 but I would reckon around
20 bhp extra from the reflash long arm induction and full piper exhaust
even more if I was to get a decat.
but also the power to weight ratio comes in heavily aswell as the ep3 is a featherweight.
one thing to know about the type r's with reflash or vtec controllers is when a desiel is almost all the way up the revs in second gear the civic is still in first getting ready to hit second and kicking the vtec in again
as my vtec redlines at around 9000 rpm so I dont need to change gears as often during a quick take off at the lights

my car would defo get to 60 quicker than 6.4 second as that is standard take off with the vtec starting at 6000 rpm and redlining at 8000 rpm

M
But for me 350- under is more than enough for a front wheel drive if you get 250-270 from a type r with the Vtec that's more than enough and would sound ridiculous

yea around 350 bhp is more than enough for the civic
I have been looking at supercharging mine with a jackson supercharger
with k-pro also which gives the car 330 bhp it costs around £5000 to do
but what I like about it is when you are driving normal it does not use any extra fuel but when you want to go fast and plant the foot the supercharger kicks in and it goes balistic.
I have been thinking heavily on doing this to mine and I reckon in around a year when I am finished doing other things to it I think I will go for it

the reflash is done by cpl racing its a little similar to a remap
just not as much tho.
the standard vtec kicks in at 6000 rpm and redlines at 8000 rpm
with a reflash the vtec starts at 5200 rpm and redlines at 8800 rpm.
my one goes upto 9000 rpm
so you get the vtec blast earlier on and it keeps pumping out power upto around 8800 rpm which makes the car a bit faster because you got an extra 1600 of vtec power

I will be back a little bit later my mates just peeped his horn outside so we are going for a quick blast in his car.

take it easy fellas

to the op:i have owned quite a no of cars in my time from fiesta rs turbos thr to skyline r32 gtr.. i would have to say i love my imprezas.. i am currently on my fifth impreza and i still find them the best cars to drive.. my latest sti is the one u have mentioned, the blobeye, my car has done 70k miles so far but i have to say the engine is the best one out of the lot. currently running 470+ bhp and without any problems on standard internals, u tell me is that not reliable enuf? as long as the car is mapped properly by a specialist and not any cowboys, it would be running safe and reliability would not be an issue.

my cousin who has a supercharged ctr running 333bhp thinks his car outruns mine all day long, he found out a few weeks ago when he tried it on with me from the lights and thr twisty b roads.

he is now selling it on and wants a scooby, so if anyone interested in buying a supercharged ctr, then pm me and i will let him know! think hes looking for around £6000

70k?? Thats what iv been told is the threshold for imprezas so i hope the next 20k miles are as kind to you as the past 70 i also have two mates with imprezas both of which bottem end went at 76 an 83k miles. I have had a list of cars myself and i have to agree the impreza is a very special beast but i cant see me buying one with more than 40k miles on it when i do eventually get another one

I keep the car regularly serviced at every 4000miles.. As long as I keep doing oil change on it, should be fine! All my previous scoobys have been classics n had a few problems with the engines unless u go forged! All cars need to be looked after well to have a long lasting engine as we all know, so don't be put off by cars with 70k miles.

Actually a mate down the road from me has a dc5 and it's gone to tgi for repairs cos his head gasket went 2 weeks ago! And that's done 80k miles! Not strong as u think

I am currently in the process of selling my DC5 to swap to a Impreza. Lovely cars the DC5's and as mentioned very rare. The model i have is the facelift in black. 50k miles. You can PM me if you are interested.

Fuel economy is great achieving 30mpg around town and nearly 40 on a motorway. If you do buy one you have to get the GruppeM induction kit for it, as it makes an awesome sound on vtec.

Any of these companies should list the car -
Adrian Flux 08700 777240
Alexander Mcnicol 01506 653937
A-Plan 0845 0711234
Churchill 0800 200326
Direct Line 0845 246 8888
Dorset 0808 1086590 Over 28
Hill House Hamond 01733 310899
Insurance Factory 0870 777 8181 Over 30 For Mods
Keith Michaels 0800 542 2141
Laurie Ross 0141 6432131
Liverpool Victoria 0800 514 514 Over 30
Livingstones Insurance 0870 120 3897 Over 30
Norwich Union Direct 08705 502 006
Opi 0870 242 0800 Over 30
Osborne & Sons 0871 222 8247 Over 30
Sky 0870 112 1759
Tesco 0845 300 9900
Lifesure 0871 726 1235

I would recommend either Sky Insurance or A-Plan. The only insurance companies that list the car online are Bell, Admiral or Elephant

TBH a 470 bhp impreza is going to outrun a 333 bhp civic as it has got a massive difference in power 137 bhp more
do you think the same would happen with a supercharged civic with 470 bhp as you do get them with the intercooled rotrex superchargers with limited slip diff's and forged internals.
when they put the kit above you can actually get alot more power than 470 bhp safely depending on how big the wallet size is

£6000 is a very good price for the supercharged civic it should not stay around for long at that price
it's not by any chance a silver pre-facelift civic is it as I seen one around that price a little while ago on the civic forum.

Any idea if they cover northern ireland pal? 6 companies down and none have heard of a dc5 lol got great quotes for s2000/ctr though which makes me hopeful that if i find one that actually knows what the car is they will quote a decent price

I am not sure if I am being honest mate
they are the insurers from the type R forum so I am sure they would do the dc5
but I dont know about Ireland but you could always give them a ring and fingers crossed they might insure you from there.
