Have you checked coil pack(s) & associated wiring? They are common for breaking down over time. Also check all vacuum & turbo pipes are fitted correctly & not leaking.
Yawn.........i already mentioned all this at the start

well i thought it was getting better done all as above put octane boost through, checked the maf sensor and the coil. checked the ecu to find it was the wrong one so replaced that and reset. It then seemed to be better with no splutter but just a dead point only in 4th gear it was like this for 3 or 4 days. so i thought i must of solved one problem but still had another. But got in it yesterday and it gone bad again splutters bad in 3rd aswell as dead point in 4th. Only thing i noticed is that it seems to clear a bit when i put octane boost in and it seems once thats gone through it goes back to normal. Can anyone please please help this is getting rediculous now!!!

Time to take it to a speciallist, sounds like a dodgy sensor and you dont want to go around spending a fortune replacing the lot.
