Don't think it's a '' look '' as such more a bit of fun and gold looks poop on silver cars and the standard gold rims are always much cheaper on ebay so need to paint them on the cheap for winter as I don't fancy killing my 19" GT2's as they tyres a dreadful in the damp wet conditions

finished them off last night,
a couple of waft coats of lacquer on the inside and about 3 good waft coats on the outside.

I used HOLTS Car Paint Lacquer (£3.99 for 300ml @ the RANGE)
It's a lovely gloss finish.
Just had to be careful not to get get runs or over do it with the lacquer as it started to soften the BLUE up. It was best to waft it over the surfaces.. leave for 25mins, then go back and give them another coat.

With the tapes removed they look great IMO

I've now put them out side to harden off, it says on the back of the lacquer cans to leave them for about 5-7days before you do anything with them.
Seeing that I'm not fitting them till November, I can wait. Then I'll get them re balanced and weighted.

Well Chuffed

we'll see how long they last once on the car. They might get jetwashed and it all blows off

Really like that blue. Nice work!

I was thinking of PlastiDipping some wheels in a crazy colour for the winter.
Looks so much easier than conventional paint.

Had my 4 yr service on the 24th November... then got the 'blue' wheels fitted on Friday 30th Nov.

Done a 400 mile trip on them at the weekend and they seem ok... car is filthy so not had chance to clean them up yet to take photos.

Only hic up was I told the guy at National Tyres to treat them with kid gloves.. and he did.. carefully removing the GT2's and fitting teh STi 17".

Drove home and I could hear a clicking sound from the NS wheel, I pulled up.. ran my hand over the tyre and checked for stones or a nail.. nothing.

So on my way to Portsmouth on Friday lunch time I popped in and told the guy I could hear a noise.. one look and he said I know what it is.. the BREMBO STi Brake calliper was very slightly rubbing/chaffing on the stick on weight.

He said with it being a high performance car he didn't want to weight the alloys just on the inside rim like a lot of wheel fitter do because he said it creates a negative weight counter balance, SO what he'd done was weight the the alloy where it needed to weight to give me a better feel. He ended up whipping the alloy off and re balancing it and making sure the stick on weight wasn't where the calliper was. The OF was fine, we think it must of been a bit too much sponge backing making the NS weight strand proud.

All good now though and drives a treat.

I think it might just be the light in which the picture was taken that makes them look darker. Could be wrong tho. Car looks the nuts.
