I've got a basically new CobraSport rear silencer coming off my Spec C shortly TT, it's a 3" pipe inlet with a 5" slash cut, they are really good quality and a nice sound but too loud for a car with no sound proofing.

Just wondering guys what kind of power gains you will get from a 3" turbo back system non-resonated?

 

3inch won't automatically give more power over 2.5 inch, but over 400bhp the 2.5 exhaust may become restrictive & start to strangle the effectiveness of any mods. Having said that over 500bhp has been achieved on 2.5.

 

So you wont get more bhp by taking off the standard system with cats etc and replacing with a 3" straight though system i would of thought you would of?

 

Yes if you are replacing standard system for decatted exhaust you will gain,with mapping you will gain bit more like without the mapping

As Jura said a decat will gain power as it's less restrictive. I was referring to comparing 2.5 full decat to a full 3inch decat.

im heading for 450 to 500 so my 2.5 inch needed changing.

 

I went 3 inch at 400 as advised by my mapper, currently at 440 with 20% Meth but I'll need to use a bigger turbo to get any more power now.

 

Never mind, it's being swapped out this weekend for a Genome silencer which are the mutts nuts.
