We all get opportunities in life to do something we shouldn't ..... having a relationship at 31 with a 15 year old is one of those.

A guy I know (now in his 50s) used to bang a 16yr old when he was 30. People found out about it... it caused a bit of controversy with local people talking about it, but that was it. It was forgotten about in around a week and the guy is as well liked as ever. The woman just ended up living a normal life as well, as you'd expect.

A teacher is in the kind of position where it is very easy to take advantage of his students who are likely to be of an age where they can be easily influenced.

To have ensnared this young girl is a heinous crime and he deserves to get it well and truly in the neck!

Apparently (from what i've read in the press) going away with anyone under the age of 16 without the parents consent is child abduction so yes he will be done for that whether she claims it was her idea or not.

As for the other points as you say if they both deny it then it will be very hard for the police to get a conviction for under age sex.

She will likely be questioned to death upon her return by the police to try and build a case against him for grooming her. They will do their best to get him done for as much as possible as it's such high profile now they will want to throw the book at him.
