Is a TD05H(16G) a direct bolt on for a 2006 WRX?

Does anyone know a good source for this turbo (preferably brand new one)? Don't fancy getting one off eBay worried about Chinese fakes.

Have a word with Harvey Smith on here, posts as harvey.

His turbos are a bit special. He will also advise on fitment, headers up-pipe etc to make the most of it, since it's NOT just about fitting a bigger turbo.

And if you are enough of a risk-taker to do it BEFORE sorting brakes and suspension.

I'm going to put my sensible hat on here and say - leave it as it is.
If the engine has done 100k already, any increase in power, however modest, will test the life left inside it.
Plus, I thought the standard TD04 setup with a remap (280bhp) made an awesome machine.

If money was not so much of an object, I'd say go for it. But as you now have a family to look after, I am going to advise leaving the car as it is.

You know it makes sense!

I hate you so much right now.

Wish I could weld, as you are gonna be doing some of the stuff I want to do, but, don't have the skill required.

Having the skill is not really the hard part , it's having the gear as well
A/c tig set , bending equipment ect
We also have a laser cutter , that's gonna be cutting some nice little bits and bobs for project bug lol

A good engine is good no matter what the mileage mate
You can have a 40k dog or 100k solid motor
It totally depends on the life it's had , well maintained , thrashed , motorway miles , track miles ,
There are loads of modded high mile cars on here

Of course there are, but that doesn't mean the engines last forever. Or gearboxes for that matter!

What/how are you planning on doing the manifold, Tony?

Cut out the centre section and re-weld? Also rotated kit, standard fit turbo, or GT series?

I'm just spinning the manifold but cutting the icv off the tb then opening the other side of the manifold and welding a mounting plate to bolt the icv on to
So it just leaves the tb facing the front
No real reason ( just looks neater )
Probably re mount the header tank somewhere new aswell

As for the twisted set up , I'm only gonna be going to an 18g so no real need but if I can I might as well , it saved scrabbling about in tight spaces and might come I'm handy at a later date

Like most of the stuff I mess with or do , it's out of boredom not necessity lol

I'm like this but my fiddling with the unknown usually results in me in the wanted section on here looking for a replacement
