Innocent until proven guilty but it would be amazing if these are all unfounded...

"It's quite clear that he has perpetrated 4 decades of abuse"
Seems unlikely that all the claims are bogus but a police commander being so unequivocal about someone's guilt before even any inquiry has been concluded does seem to undermine the fundamental assumption of criminal law i.e. Innocent until proven guilty. Makes me a little uncomfortable to be honest.

it seems in the 70's and 80's it was quite acceptable to goose/fondle women whilst at work
now the PC plonker brigade are in charge this is no longer acceptable - and they have to be treated with respect
bet work was more fun in the old days

I agree! ![Thumb](images/smilies/thumb.gif)
Trial by TV is never a good thing, and particularly reprehensible when the person concerned is no longer able to defend themselves.
What is a fact is that this guy did more for charity (literally raised 10s of millions for good causes) and made more of a positive difference in other people's lives than most.
The rest is speculation. If someone wanted to accuse him of a wrong doing they should have done it when he was alive!

That is NOT the same as saying that charitable donations should render one immune from prosecution for such a heinous crime or diminish its seriousness.
If the violation of the assumption of innocence until proven guilt and objection to people being vilified in the press without due process after their death makes me a w**ker then so be it.
This time, you get a public warning that you should be careful what you wish for, as the next time you bypass the swear filter and insult a moderator will be your last post on SN.
Consider yourself both wiser and warned!

I'd not be completely shocked to see someone have a go and cracking the concrete his coffin is buried in, or perhaps trying to lift it out and smash / dump the block somewhere.

Because it was assumed he had a "right" to act as he did. The red-top papers are still using the word legend when talking about him, and in an age when there was no internet, no mobile phones/cameras, that status allowed him to act with impunity. Plenty of women don't go to the Police after being raped, even today.

First of all, if you'd bothered to read my post properly you would have noted that I was contrasting fact from speculation. We know for a fact he raised x amount of money for charity. He is accused posthumously of being a paedophille. There has been no trail, not even a public inquiry has been completed. What we have is trail by the media, but of course, they are completely beyond reproach aren't they?!?! Phone hacking scandal anyone?!?!

Thinking about this,i just remembered back in the early 90's in secondary school in maths class,a couple lads used to grope this girl, they would sit behind her and reach forward over the desk to have a feel of her **** when teacher wasn't looking or went out the room. She never reported it and seemed to like it.
Some girls who hanged around with the boys would even give some of us BJ's at dinnertime or after school behind the Church.
I remember one girl wanking one of the lads off under the desk in IT class....

On a serious note though: it's alarming to hear that sexual activity of that nature in school was commonplace - I know, I know it's kids of the same age - it's not the same as an adult preying on them ..... but still: Whatever happened to kids getting a chance to be kids before they participate in being an adult.

I know school dinners are bad, but resorting to a BJ to get the taste out of your mouth is a bit wrong!

Lol thinking about it now,it does even surprise me what we got up to as teenagers.I remember a few of us being at a mates house and watching a **** vid with a few of the girls, this was when we were about 16 though, and one of my mates ended up ******** my other mates GF upstairs in bed, while he was downstairs watching a movie and eating pizza.A few of us had to go upstairs for a quick peek.Another time we came back from my mates 19th birthday party and we had an orgy with a few of the girls..
