We have had three over the last 5 years:

Citroen Picasso:

Good points: All the gadgets, very comfortable, good on fuel.

Bad points: Dull to drive, slow and felt flimsy

VW Touran:

Good points: Great engine (1.9TDI), Great quality, 3 proper back seats

Bad point: Electrical glitches

Zafira 1.9 CDTI :

Good points: Probably the most car like to drive, handles fairly well considering its size/weight, punchy engine, 50 MPG pretty much everywhere. great seating config and loads of room.

Bad points: The most unreliable car I have ever owned. Shocking dealers who are well aware of the problems but vauxhall still take your trousers down to fix them.

Personally now I would stick with the touran, though, like you, I like the look of the S MAX.

Cheers mate, we went to the car people and looked at s-max and my missus said they look too long and huge and said no way, I agree they look a bit long, but I liked the interior.
So back to the touran it is, seen some with leather in the sport model and I think that's the one tbh, what's the mpg like on them are they as good as your other 2 mpvs? We going to go for the 2lt diesel 140 model, need a bit of punch lol, then probably get it mapped as you can get the 170 models in 2ltr too.

The one thing I would say about the 140 engine is the turbos are a known problem, I had a Leon with the same engine and the turbo blades were worn out at 40'000 miles.
The turbo specialist that replaced it said it was a common issue. Replacement cost was £1300 inc labour as the turbo is well tucked away.

Renaults are unreliable (which is shame as the spec is good).

I personally have a Zafira GSi and in my opinion its a lot better than the newer VXR but I am biased lol.

I have heard nothing but praise regarding the Ford S-Max, the new Ford Galaxy looks really good (may well be my next purchase).

just bought the wife this, pick it up next week, MPG is ok, but as long as you steer clear of the diesel and the DPF then for a women its a great car

VXR kit 19inchers, Glass roof lots of gadgets

interest free and 10 year warranty, cant argue with that, pity ford don't do it on the Smax

That does look nice. 10 years sounds impressive, is it a full warranty or diminishing? i.e. by year 10 all thats warrantied are the wheel nuts.
