I believe Chris Bucklers WR1 won it one year and yes it's an RCM built car. But DIY cars can be built to RCM levels should the owner want to.

I see what you're saying about chequebook tuning, but as said... I think the voters would decide anyway.

I'm willing to help.

I've registered www.imprezaidol.co.uk & will set a site up if there is enough interest.

let me know ASAP & I will make it happen.

It's a huge shame but a lot of print magazines are going this way.

The economy is on it's backside and the Impreza is a dying marque. It was inevitable really that the mag couldn't last. It wasn't that great either!

As anyone who went to Prodrive for our Impreza 20th Anniversary event will know, if Dean's at the helm, you can guarantee it WILL happen

Little unfair IMO. I'm all for a built not bought car, as mine is completely self built.

However, an Impreza is an Impreza no matter who built it and surely it would be up to the voters to decide???

I would not have the knowledge to build an engine like RCM can ? .... I still had put much input into the finished car as I needed to work my butt off to pay for it

If it's all about self builds I'll willingly pull out of the final ...... no problem

I dont see why anyone shoild be pulling out, if you have paid for it then who cares who built it. I for one could not build a car to 500bhp and if i had the money to do so i would just pay someone else to save me the hassle.

Is all cars that state "built not bought" done everything themselves? Engine build from bare blocks right up to mapping? I dont think so. It doesnt matter if you have paid someone to map it orbuild the whole car we arent looking for specifics it is an idol we are looking

I thought the point was to decide on the best Impreza - not judge the individuals/companies who built them.....

I think it should be open to anyone and everyone, but people should be aware of if its built or bought.

Total Evolution mag became the MLR club mag. Too late now but something a club such as the SIDC could have considered? Unfortunately, the SIDC (to which I belong) is not the force within the Subaru community it used to be so maybe could not justify such an outlay. Regional Subaru groups sprung up all over the place, so it all became rather disjointed. There are regional EVO groups but are part of the MLR. Forums, such as this one and, to a lesser extent 22B, are all that bring the Subaru community as a whole, together.

I'll try and get hold of the man from Total to see how far he got, failing that, we'll work something out on my Facebook page, or here on Scoobynet.
Or both!
Thats a great idea Mr Grumpy, something to carry on in years to come.

i guess the only way to decide is have a vote on the best cars.

having seen most of them i have no idea who to vote for, id love them all.

we all have different ideas on the cars as seen above so the voting should be very interesting,

My car was entered into the first Impreza Idol they ran and they ended up putting a photo of someone else's car next to my write up by accident. Wasn't great and scuppered my chances lol

Never got the point of a magazine dedicated to just one product. Too niche and not particularly interesting.

Who needs a mag when all you need ( tech, pics, advice, views etc) are on here? Mags are slowly fading away due to the power of the net.

I also like how the home DIY builders want everyone to know that they did it all the work them selfs, which in my eyes kinds of influences the voting in their favour!

Sadly not everyone has the knowledge or capabilities to do a home build or carry out mechanical work hence why we use specialists
