Driving the old man's 997 Turbo back to back with my P1 on K-sports/DS2500 combo the P1 definately stops better....and he agreed.
I think all of the above brake set ups will give good results- it is all about pad selection I would guess?

I've tired plenty of different brakes over the years on my Scoobs.
K sports work okay, but the standard pads are dangerous (I know they have changed material now) and they start to look shabby after a very short period of time. The bleed valves rust and the logos start to oxidise within weeks.
I've just upgraded my current cars brakes to the powerstation porsche setup, I'll report back once they are bedded in but they are monsters with added bonus's over the other options: monoblock calipers and ceramic pistons should also mean no sticking piston in the future.

He had the option of only two- the steel disc set up or the ceramic disc set up (the sales guy suggested the steel would be better for what he uses the car for) - didn't see any option for an upgrade.

Has anyone used OEM Brembos with uprated pads on a 600hp Subaru? If so, which pads & how did you find the braking on the road?

What areas of what tracks do you have a problem with?
Brembos with PF kit is as good as anything else in my opinion, only time ive ever thought i could have done with a bit more was a during a lack of concentration on Kemmel at Spa, and they still pulled me up quicker than i needed!
If its just a road car, then your looking for a cosmetic improvement and not a practical performance one!
Can you explain what you mean by "slip/skid" ..... sounds like theres a fundemental problem rather than underperformance.

You're the 4th person that has mentioned the rust etc. That would concern me as I wouldnt want that look behind my wheels, regardless.
I have the same PF setup on the Brembo's at the moment. Dont get me wrong, they do the job well (off boost driving). However when accelerating hard & then going onto the brakes I have felt the discs slip/skid. Before I do upgrade I may try some decent pads out. The Brembos are very nice, I like them very much, build quality etc.

On the road, with decent discs and pads, the brembos perform as well as anything else! Loads of power and a lovely feel.
On the track, the repeated stops and the build up of heat means that larger diameter discs and more pad to disc contact area slows down the cooking process! Major benefit in my eyes from uprating from brembos to something like AP's is how much lighter they are, not how much better they work (because they dont!)
I stand by the statement that whatever power youve got, on the road, brembos with decent pads and discs will be more than sufficient! Dont forget, brakes can only provide as much power as it takes to overcome the tyre to road grip anyway! So you'll be stopping just as quick with PF kitted brembos as anything else! Go for a more racey pad and you'll be stopping later on the road as your more likely to be calling on them hard from cold in an emergency.
Back to the subject, if i was the OP, id be trying to figure out what this skid/slip feeling is before i looked at bigger brakes ..... unless off course the problems a figment of imagination and hes just after justifying larger brakes for cosmetic reasons ..... nowt wrong with that if thats what floats your boat and you can afford it, just be straight up honest about it from the start.

Sensible approach fella!

The cosmetic comment is too funny. If that was the case I wouldnt be creating this thread.
There is no problem with the braking apart from them not doing a proper job when going fast and stopping. Accelerating fast then going onto the brakes hard I notice a shudder type of feel in the brake pedal, car does not stop as it should. Difficult to explain.
Stonejedi, I think you're right about me trying to hard.
I cant remeber the exact spec of the PF pads & discs. Will check later

Sorry if the cosmetic comment was insulting, but you if it were true, you wouldnt be the first person to buy brakes on the back of what they look like over what they work like!
Are your discs grooved?

I did however get a problem with loss of braking a couple of times on track .. and that was because I am a heavy late braker, the fluid wasn't up to it despite being new, I didn't have sufficient pad left to dissipate the heat, and as important .. I found that my discs needed skimming as I was getting a lot of shudder and/or judder.
Once all those were sorted .. I've never had any fade or problems braking from any speed.
I know that skimming has all sorts of reactions ... but I used these guys who skim with the disc in place .. and I've found the braking transformed .. http://hutfields.com/disc-skimming#

KAS, have you got the z rated pads you might need there more aggressive compound that still work reasonably well from cold but are anchors when they get some heat in them.I think they do about six more compound levels above there Z rated pads which is there entry level pad.

I've the PF discs and pads all round for years .. with braided lines and original Brembros.

I do brake pretty late my self & majority of the time very hard on the pedal.
Which fluid did you use?

You have put it together very well. Thats exactly whats happening
