My old T4 RS500 came on boost quicker than that. It's a good job it revs to 8k.

Should be much nicer with the VVT working mate.

Can you get the simtec to work with these heads? When's your next outing to drag strip?

Think you would need the alcatek upgrade before you could run them with the simtek, probably next year now due to the weather

What a difference !! Mmmmm knew I should've got the avcs heads.
Was planning them for next year but after seeing this it'll be early next year now
Meth will be helping with the spool too but will be running 20% anyway.
So thanks for that you've just cost me some more money and a lot more graft

Nice one,got to be happy with that now surely ?

Properly made up with the car now Tim The difference on the road is immense you can be a gear higher compared to no vvt and still be quicker, will be doing some further testing over the weekend

certainly does
it's a good comparison really for people as meth alone wouldn't make that difference.

So was it worth the extra £££ over the standard jdm bottom end that made 522bhp??

Much better spool with the avacs, but suprised you only got an extra 35bhp with the meth, thought most get circa 50bhp.

Though i bet it's a bit mental in a classic, must be like superbike acceleration, i bet it chomps through the hawk gears rapidly, almost like driving with a short ratio gearbox on a type r.

Your going to have to meet me with some oil when i'm back in uk and scare me sh1tless.

The 610 on petrol was a different day and dyno corrections were v different for atmospherics etc.

I'm not sure I understand that statement. The correction factors are in place to stop what you're suggesting. The only possible area that maybe affected is spool I thought.

Si do u think the biggest difference in this second map being the avcs or the meth? Do these heads make alot of difference say over v3 heads

Spool avcs
Power meth.

Worlds apart - sti3 compared to fully worked big port avcs heads with uprated valves and springs and longer duration and lift cams

I thought the whole idea behind agreed correction factors was to ensure you could take the same car anywhere (let's say the same rr type and correction factors used) and under whatever atmospheric conditions and achieve more or less the same figures.

Gearing settings effects the spool.

Not sure this weeks petrol map with working avcs was printed but I think it was just under what it made in grey plot. Corrections different plus with avcs working and earlier spool the engines a lot hotter at peak power.

Yes but there are good and bad days.

The main purpose was to set the car up rather than chase numbers

Would It be that much work to get my v3 sim tec to run avcs heads ? When I finally decide what I wanna do with my engine

Simon,
My original comment was not a slight on the figures achieved, just incase it came across that way.

I know gearing effects spool, but again I wasn't making comment on spool - it was what you said about atmospherics, which to me are just that concerning pressure, inlet and ambient temps etc etc.

I understand your inference on the engine getting hotter but that is to do with dynamics rather than atmospherics isn't it? Unless this effected inlets & consequently charge temps dramatically, which I can certainly appreciate.

Figures look very nice and curve shape looks great.

The corrections are suppose to make a different day the same but I dont think they always succeed.

Also the car was strapped harder as the increased torque lifted it out the rollers.

Lots of little differences, but means you can say it only made 36hp more on meth.

The peak figures mean squat to me and too many people concentrate on them. Look at the comparison between the two runs as in the curve and the area underneath it...... that's THE important part. I know which one I would rather have and certainly wouldn't be worrying about any "it only made x with meth" concern. lol

But then you already know this, so I'm speaking to the converted on this point.
