I think it's only fair to give the OP the benefit of the doubt. There can't be many scooby owners who haven't taken the opportunity of an overtaking move to give it the full beans when less would still have got the job done. That doesn't necessarily make it a dangerous thing to do.
To quote your first post "Don't do the crime" is a bit premature and assumes that the copper is right. There would be a fair few folk on here who would argue that that is not always the case.

Absolutely agree with that.
But respect is a two way street, and "started flashing his lights and all sort" is not my idea of polite respect.

So what should he have done?
Drove the OP off the road?
Tail gated him?
Chased him home?
Threw CD's or rubbish from the car at him?

Seriously????? WTF????

He should have realised that there was NOTHING he could do, it was only his opinion the OP was doing something wrong and there is nothing he could have done about it!

The OP could have passed at 65, when the rozzer was doing 50 (in a national speed limit theres nowt wrong with that and if it got to court theyd be laughed out the door), but if it caught the fella by suprise and the OP had a loud exhaust, he'd have wrongly assumed he was going faster ..... coppers know all this, they know people make mistakes and assumption can be skewed by situation, which is why theres calibrated speed guns to prove the facts!

As BluByYou has said, innocent until proven guilty, theres no way a trained policeman would go vigilante in this situation, no way at all!

if on the outside chance this is a copper, behaving like this suggests hes a vicious little hitler of a copper, so as a result, if the OP finds himself getting pulled over for nit**** little bits of ball ache more often, keeping a record of this encounter might have been handy!

I agree with you on one thing though trooper, the OP handled it badly by getting abusive! Staying calm and being polite despite the jobsworth ranting would have pissed him off far more than being abusive back!

If we put the grammar back in perhaps this reads differently.

"ok well earlier on today i took my scooby out for a weekend spin and i overtook this car on the loughor bypass heading towards llanelli when this guy got pissed started flashing his lights and all sort so i pulled over on the loughor bridge to see what his problem is and he goes "why u driving like a pratt so dangerously on the road you know im a police officer". (well something like that)
i just told him to go **** him self and more and told him your off duty what can you do go and do it. then he replies" im always on duty expect a call later" then he drove off."

OK, well earlier today I took my Scoob out for a weekend spin and I overtook this car on the Lougher Bypass heading toward llanelli. When this guy got pissed and started flashing his lights and all sorts. So I pulled over on the Lougher Bridge to see what his problem is and he go's "Why are you driving like a pratt, so dangerously on the road? You know I am a police officer?" (Was he shouting? Did he or you get out of your cars?)(well something like that).

I just told him to go **** himself and more. And told him, "Your off duty, what can you do and go and do it" (Again, where you shouting) then he replies "I'm always on duty expect a call later" (Was he shouting?). Then he drove off.

Add some inflection and it looks bad.

Are you a copper Trooper?
You seem determined to put the OP down regardless of any other consideration, all based on supposition.
I don't get it.
I'm out.

Just my 10p but I have to agree that there are 2 sides to every story. Look at it like this, i have been over taken by some right clowns in some dangerous places and it has really boiled my blood that some plum feels its ok to put my and others lives in danger, and i am sure you have all been there. I dont know what happened or how fast or dangerous the overtake was but it clearly boiled the blood of this "copper" so he decided to act on it. By the way, officers have a duty of care to act if they see a crime being committed even if they are in their swimwear as long as they dont put themselves in danger doing so. If the guy was driving like a dangerous **** and killed someone down the road i eonder what the reaction of the public would be when they found a copper saw him but did nothing......

Proof is not needed, a Section 59 can even be issued, if 3 members of the public report someone in a 7 day period for any different motoring offences, from Dangerous Driving, Loud Music, Wheel spinning etc... The law is set to scre" the motorist.

and the chap is right their is no such thing as Off duty. all he has to do is phone in and they will book him as on Duty, giving him his full powers, yes section 59 has to be given by a uniformed officer, but a non uniformed officer can ask a Uniformed officer to give the section 59, Proof is NOT required, the law on section 59 gives the motorist no protection... IMO the law should have no legal backing, but it does... and unfortunately it's down to you to prove you were not doing as they claim under this act.

How was your body language when you got out of the car ? What were your intentions at the time ? I.e why did you get out of the car when he was following you ? Why did you overtake the car? Was there any oncoming traffic ? Was it a dangerous manoeuvre?

So many variables to take into account, most of which you NOT will get over through a one sided forum post from the OP.

If the guy is an off duty copper and you acted in the way you did from your opening post - swearing at him when he told you he was a copper and you were driving dangerously as he said then what's the problem ... You were at fault.
What worries me is your attitude toward someone who tells you to stop driving like a Pratt, tells you he is an off duty copper and then you tell him to go **** himself.....uncalled for!

However as I said we don't know both sides of the story so it's unfair to make unfounded judgements.

I have plenty of experience with coppers.

Only a traffic car can get you done for a speeding, traffic light, dangerous driving etc as they need video evidence if taken to court, but most people own upto doing wrong and then your given a ticket/fine/points.
A local plod car can try and do you for speeding but if you admit to it then you've got yourself a ticket, but if you take it to court then the cps will throw it out as there is no video evidence or will get thrown out of court due to no video evidence unless there is multiple witness (general public).
Most people get that scared of being pulled and own upto it without thinking logically, which puts you in a position were you can't back out then as by then you've signed the ticket.

To the op, I wouldn't worry and if you do get a ticket, contest the ticket to go before the court and ask for video proof.

P.s dive carefully lol

Seriously the way you have labelled this i bet you was a copper or are one right now .
FYI if hes gonna act like a bigshot without respect why should i respect him simple as i know there two sides to a story but i overtook him on a straight A-road no traffic coming towards me and did it as to how a manouvere should be done i done nothing wrong, but this guy started flashing doing all these hand signals, so i slowed right down and pulled over where not to affect traffic, but then instead of this coward pulling up behind me guess what he does and has no regard for traffic pulls right up next to my door so i could not get out to give him a slap, as i think he was not expecting me to pull over but im no coward. he winds his window down and this is how the coversation goes all i think he was trying to do was impress himself in front of his wifey thats all and he just used "im a police officer" crap as he was **** scared really and just so i think twice about what i was really gonna do .

Anger management issues?
So you where going to slap him as well?
You on the steroids?
How do you know it was his wife?

I am not a copper but I have been around long enough to give a considered opinion and not judge. If you read my post I am playing devil's advocate, you sound like you may need to look it up, while your at it you may want to get your grammar out sorted young boy!

Devil's Advocate my ****.

My own bit of advocacy...

Bored now

You should of learnt two lessons here:

1, Don't stop next time
2, Don't bother bringing the subject up on a public forum
