"titanium" sti key
#62
If using an aftermarket ecu (syvecs) is it possible to use this key on a uk 03 sti or does the system still need to recognise the chip in the key to start regardless of what ecu is fitted?

Yep totally possible. Im using one in an 02sti with aftermarket ecu. The chip is no longer in use. All you need do is get the key cut and away you go

PM if you get stuck with it

Sorry to bring this up...again...!
I have been in contact with the seller in the link and he has told me that shipping would be $9 + $4.50 for each additional key.
I want one but I have a uk 2000 classic I think v5?
I know about the transponder in the oem key but will this one need trimming to fit and will a high street key cutter be able to do that for me?
Thanks
Dave

No Versions on UK cars Dave.
My titanium key does ignition and door locks.
Original key and Ti key side by side;
It's only the key blank length that is longer, so as long as it's cut from the tip backover then it should be fine.
Ryan, ProdriveRules on here, sorted mine out for me.

I seen that Ryan has done a few but I'm in sunny Scotland so IF he could do mine, I would have to send it down!!
I found this

But not sure if I would like to tackle it myself!

When I bought my car, I didn't have a spare. So I went to http://www.denniscommon.co.uk/ £4.50 for a spare key supplied and cut.

Thinking of getting one of these
and putting the key's transponder inside so that I can use the Ti key.
The blue one should match the key nicely too.
Edit: I bought it! Looking forward to trying it now, I hope the aluminium container keychain will not act as a Faraday cage and the transponder will still work...
