Hi,
anyway, latest video for your perusal.
Pity no one thought to tell Chris our rally driver to turn off the certer diff control with the Syvecs rus, it was activly trying to stop the car breaking away.
cheers

Go and visit them - its your cash. Then do a google of them to see what people think. There is no hiding on the internet these days.
You may find that having an engine built in one place and the geo sorted at another may be the way to go.

API would get my vote for an engine build. They built my engine 5 years ago spec'd to 430 bhp and 462 ft/lbs torque. it's now done 55000 miles since the build and it's only needed servicing and a new cam belt at 48000.

blue is by far the best colour
problem with internet is its full of BS as well, not only by customers

Hi,
we pick up the pieces of many a bad job thats been done out there.
The worse case is if one place builds the engine, another fits it, someone else does body mods then another company does the electrics and finally it gets to a mapper and doesnt make the power, each person blames the other, no one wants to take the responsibility and deal with it.
If the tuner of your choice does all the work and something goes wrong they will have to sort it, no one else to blame, thats why we created a one stop shop.
Cheers

Hi,
if that’s how its perceived you could not be more wrong.
We are concerned that another scooby owner will end up blowing his budget at a place that does not know what they are doing, there are so many that talk the talk but cannot walk the walk, trust me as I stated earlier we end up picking up the pieces when the budget has already gone.
Cheers

I wasn't pointing my finger at anyone or insinuating anything.I am pleased and impressed that a few of the Better tuning firms are taking an interest yourself included.

If your building a car for the sprint series then it might be worth talking to those who compete, build and run cars in the series....
Paul maps most of the subaru entries.
Lateral is a main supplier of parts.
Steven sd motorsport has a huge input in everything subaru in the series.
Chevron motorsport have input in suspension, geo etc on many cars.
The people who compete would probably be the best source of knowledge on what will work and what you don't need to do....

that’s great, thank you.
The problem is that this is not a job, its a passion and we amongst other top tuners hate to see people led down the wrong path, robbed of their money and given back a less than average sub standard car with all the wrong bits, quite often they end up here or at another top specialist to get sorted, its usually to late as the budgets blown and the job needs starting from the bottom.
Case in point, customer turns up here with a 56 plate Haweye STI, he has fell out with his tuner over its oil consumption during running in and they told him to F*** off.
He arrives here wanting us to final map the car because they have refused, he explains they have had 10 K out of him to forge the engine, supply and fit fmic and a billet turbo.
The FMIC was a massive nasty looking thing, turbo looked as if it came off Fred Dibners traction engine and the whole thing sounded like a bag of spanners.
We loaded it on the dyno, checked all levels and went on to try and map the car, it did 10 BHP less than a standard car, didn’t spool until 5000 RPM and smoked the shop out consuming 2.0 ltrs of oil whilst on the rolling road, owner asked what could he do to sort it, we told him we would have to start from scratch, his answer was to get rid of it and get an evo, another member of the Subaru community lost forever.
This is not what we want to happen to people, they need to go and see a few tuners, take a look at what they do, what they have around them, track records, successful cars out there performing, etc. etc. and most of all passion for what they do.
Cheers

Have you seen the quality of their work?
Attention to detail is astonishing. You pay for an RCM build you know its going to be a very very good reliable engine.
There are other good tuners such as Engine Tuner but RCM are the best there is.

Lol I think a discount is on the cards now for the tuner you choose lol.
Sorry couldn't resist lol.
Most of the names mentioned are top quality I belive so will be a hard decision to make, me personally I would choose 1 out of 3 that are mentioned but I won't, I'll leave that decision to the op and hope you have a easy decision to make, but don't think it will now. I just hope you choose 1 of the 3 I'm thinking of.
Good luck

I would echo Paul's recommendation, Chevron will do a complete job and have vast experience in just this type of project. To run a std engine as hard as Paul does requires a "proper" subset of supporting mods, and not a few hours of mapping as well.
But David at API will also be able to do this for you they also have produced cars run exclusively on track.
So two good options there. Re Chevrons web site its a placeholder, give them a call and talk to Simon. If you want suspension as well then he is the master at sorting that.
I do agree your budget is a "bit" conservative.
RCM are a no brainer but the lead times are somewhat extended at best due to demand and Matts determination to get everything spot on.
He did most things on my STi5, from day one to the day I sold it.
cheers

I'm just waiting on a quote from http://www.shpengineering.co.uk/ which should come in next week, to work out my budget for the rest of the car.
I've also sourced a 2.2T block and i'm waiting for a price on that.
I still have to find the time to call scooby clinic and APi yet, although i'm calling Alan at Engine Tuner today to discuss a couple of things.

About 7-8 years ago i did exactly what the gaffer suggested i took a week off work and visited a few tuners to see which one suited my needs best
I chose Tracktive Solutions in Melton Mowbray Richard Bulmer who owns the company as built a few race cars and i liked is no bull attitude
Check out Robins Evo that did World Time Attack last year again Tracktive are a company who can build you a car from start to finish with a excellent standard of workmanship the only thing they can't do is paint car.

I dont doubt their work for a second mate, i dont have first hand experience but ive read only good reviews about them. I do however know theres other companies that are considerably cheaper and show the same level of attention to detail and have some of the most reputable engine builders in the buisness, they can also build very very good reliable engines and it dosent cost an arm and leg.
