Red face

Shaun help me!! I am so in between one things for certain one of them is my new car.

On one hand I got howsies now i don't like the wheels but it has a sunroof. All the bits are already done on it so it saves me money on buying! 29,000 miles though and at £17,000. But the mods?!!?!?! he's in london i'm in manchester

On the other I have this what does seem imaculate untouched 99 16,000 miles, private evo reg (Like it) 5 belonging to my mate ken. for 16,750 (with any luck) Now I have been advised to get the lowest milage untouched one by RC, clive would sort it for me how i wanted it and properly. BUT would cost me.(isnt that half the fun though?)in yorkshire

To be honest i'm swaying towards the latter. As for one he's not far from me and he does seem like a real nice chap. I'm going to see it this week and if it's as clean as it looks i think I shall pick it up tuesday Subject of course to a HPI and AA check.

Eitherway I'm in the yellow.

Wouldnt of minded a black one though!

Crypt
Think the Chocolate pistons syndrome is a load of rubbish.
There are 2 other Evo 4's near me ,1 with 70k on the clock and another with 85000 miles ,still running standard pistons and they do get thrashed!they have never missed a beat. The Engine difference between 4,5 and 6 is very minimal eg:bigger intercooler, higher flow fuel pump etc etc.

Just because some cars may have blown up,don't tar them with the same brush(what about piston 3 on scoobys??)
They are great cars.
As for evo 4's going for 9k,well ,i bet thats a minter!

Mr nutter how would you know this? I'm sure "chocolate pistons" is just a **** take.... However i would belive someone whom has worked on evos like forever and does the majority of work on most in the north west when they say they are a bit tempermental.

Thus is why they have a 500bhp 7, they know their stuff.

Decisions decisions decisions Cryptwalk, but what a decision eh? Personally I would be swayed to the lower milaged example and then you can mod it to your own spec. I bought mine completely standard 2 months ago and told the missus that it was fast enough standard anyway so I wouldn't spend a penny on it unnecessarily..... Well 2 months and nearly £2k later with a HKS SSQV, Apexi filter, full Magnex system, new pads all round, etc, I don't think she's amused..... But I have the filter, exhaust and BOV that I wanted on the car although it can be very tempting and save you quite a bit of cash by buying a modded one in the first place..... But do you want the filter, exhaust, etc that are on the car or would you end up changing them for items of your own choice anyway? The Evo plate alone would be worth a few hundred quid, I am looking to get one soon (along with a PE remapped ECU and boost controller) but not a word to the missus.....

Whatever you decide, welcome to the finest looking Evo club.....IMHO.....

Cool

You got me all excieted! I cannot wait for it! I really like the plate it's class. I am myself swayed to the lower milage it has a Hayward & Scott Stainless exhaust and de-cat whats that? and thats about it.

It's like the other one i don't like the wheels so the'l be changed. I would have to change the super draggor as it seriously restrics top end aparently.

It's best going for this i think. Plus side my mate has a set of 18 inch blitz technospeed rims for me, They are soo nice.

Time will tell but i'm going to llok at the low milage 5 tomorrow. i may just come back with it.

What a load of rubbish...!!!

All Evo's (1/2/3/4/5/6/7) are brilliant cars, same goes
for ALL turbo scoobs (even the wagon).

I dont like driving my evo (5) around town and I hate
driving my evo on the motorway; but get it on a twisty country
lane and its the best car on this planet....!

If you want decent power in an evo4/5/6/7 , ie 350bhp+, you
are going to have to change the internals anyway, if you find
a nice evo4 for under £10k and your left with £6-£7k for tuning
you might just see the magic 400bhp, and believe me, a 400bhp Evo
is foooking quick !

Ringmaster, do you use the Volvo for tip runs?.

This post has taken off a bit, and I agree that ascthetically! (errr.. the way it looks), the 5 is better than the 4.

Having said that, I think I am going to get a modded STI for at least a year until the 5's come down below £14k. Im just worried about the resale value of the 4 when that happens!. Another debate I fear!.

Im also not far from Scoobysport for MOT's and servicing. Although I do have a couple of Mitsi main dealers near. One in Maidstone and one in Sittingbourne.

EVO's are still cracking cars though, their only downside is the slightly higher servicing costs due to the 4500mile diff services. Circa £200 a time.

Where do you hear these horror stories? True the diff does have to be serviced every 4700 miles but it's a £90 job not £200.

Shaun, yes i did and i couldnt fault it. Seriously it was like a new car I couldnt find a scratch on it. Totaly showroom condition, i was very impressed. I'm going to decide by monday, just wish i could go see howsies but it's in london and i'm in manchester. I would feel better if i went to howsies and it wassent as mint. Then i could buy without thinking i have missed something.

I'm just gonna buy this mint one i think. It's just the cleanest evo i have seen. Cannot wait till tuesday when i'm gonna pick it up.

Cryptwalk, Well if you can get it for under £17k and it's mint then it's a good deal I reckon. I paid a couple of grand more than that for mine just a couple of months ago and it has 10k miles more on it although the paint work was also immaculate.....

I reckon you've got a good deal there mate myself..... Tuesday will now never come mate.....

what a load of bo11ox !!! ROFL ROFL !!!

Not a "genuine" 400bhp, no chance....perhaps 400bhp from
on one of your more "dodgy" rolling roads.

Phone call to the Mitsibushi Garage - Maidstone, I think. Couldve been sittingbourne.

Although I did get hold of the artcle on doing it yourself - Not hard, if you have common sense.

anyway, will you please cut down on the caffeine for gods sake!. You come across V arrogant to everyone else. So perhaps YOU should agree to disagree.
