Most companies pay into your pension scheme, those with FSP schemes have more than 17% going into their pot so 17% is nothing special. I have 20% going into mine. A lot of pension schemes also have Life assurance, healthcare policies attached too so again, nothing special.
Infact your missus is fairly average, £73k is nothing to shout home about when everything around you is so expensive, it's all relative

I have never understood that type of bloke (not saying anyone on here) , i.e. what kind of nutjob would be bothered if his missus earnt more than him, I would love for my wife to earn more than me, I would welcome it with open arms, we would be very well off. Ditto if the kids apply themselves and earn more than me I would be elated, for them and for me as it means I wont have to bankroll them forever !
I think these changes may be short lived or not happen, I have resigned myself to losing it or most of it as ralistically we can manage, think the issue for me is my wife has not been working long and with one thing and another we havent got used to it yet but we can manage very well on our joint salary so perhaps it is right that we dont get anything, it is just we have always got it, plus when you see the feckless scum it supports on telly it really irks me, that programme about Blackpool and its drunken scummy inhabitants grabbing their free money fromt he cash till as soon as it lands at midnight, then getting bladdered and battering each other, perhaps a cull is in order....
I still cant rationalise the fact another couple who earn 80 - 100 grand between them will still get every penny which is barmy if less well off people dont, as I have mentioned one earner with a mortgage and outgoings for three kids will start to struggle, if they arent already.
I had a letter from EDF energy, thats going up several percent as well, it feels like a concerted effort to squeeze the country even further as an experiment, all the time the hyper rich just see noughts added to their wealth as they contrive it so they dont pay their fair share, us PAYE monkeys are like battery hens being told to lay more and more, dead easy to target us when we cant get an accountant to use the loopholes.

The generic answer spouted by a few is "re-train if you want more money and go get a better paid job"
Ok I actually did, but only to be around the national average as opposed to the upper echelons of the higher tax bracket
And Southern Electric have just put my gas up by about 9% a week ago

I am afraid ever increasing energy and food prices are going to be a fact of life for the foreseeable future (talking 100’s of years btw)
The “basics” will consume an ever increasing portion of people wages
The fact is if you are born poor you and your descendants will remain poor (always be exceptions – but this is the trend), social mobility has collapsed and will reduce even further

We will now have a situation where there is absolutely no concession for having kids, I know it is a choice but someone other than 15 year olds on manky estates has to breed.
Now a couple with no kids has exactly the same tax and benefits as a family with three kids, of course they dont need a house to fit 5 people, they can go on holiday outside school holidays and get the much cheaper rates and only pay for 2 people, their food bill with be half or less.

If you can't afford to have kids, then don't have them. Why should anyone, including employed have money given to them to help raise a child?

That money isn't being paid by you or anyone else, it's some of my 5 figure tax deductions given back to me (that goes straight to my Wife) to pay for stuff for our kids. It also isn't salaried to be in that bracket, I work long hours for overtime to get to the money I earn so we are being punished for me working hard. What a ******* joke.
This now means the other half is looking for an evening job just to replace what she will lose. So I will work all week and lots of weekends and she will be working evenings, thanks Tories that's really going to make for a healthy family environment. I'm ******* angry at this policy to put it mildly.

You are ******* kidding aren't you? I am in the bracket to lose the benefits and it's going to hit my Wife hard as this money is what she has to spend each month as she doesn't work because she chose to be a Mum to our kids instead of loading them off to nurseries (not that we could afford them anyway).

Really annoys me when those without kids say how hard done by they are because they are personally sponsoring our kids fromt heir own pockets, if we didnt have kids, our combined income, added to no doubt because my very capable wife would be earning more than me due to being in work and progressing for the last 16 years she has been off raising kids, we would be loaded.
We could go on holiday, somewhere really nice every few months, we would run out of leave before we ran out of money, we would have massive savings as we havent had to lay out every penny on the kids and we could manage with a smaller house with smaller bills.
When you have kids you cant categorically say that you will always be able to afford it unless you have millions in the bank, sometimes people get ill, have accidents, lose jobs or any number of things can happen that can affect your ability to provide, if everybody waited until they had enough money in the bank to guarantee every expense you would be too old, even if you could actually envisage every expense which would be pretty difficult.
The underclass will breed regardless, safe in the knowledge they can blackmail the rest of society for money to support their kids ok, not every single person without a job or every teenage mum is an undesirable parent but as a rule you want those who work for a living having kids, people with aspirations that bring kids into a loving home in a decent area, people that take an interest and instill values, again, not guaranteed in any demographic but you have a better chance of useful individuals being produces than kids being born into the Shameless set.
The upper classes/rich will breed regardless as they have enough money to not worry about it.
for the childless, if you are thirty now when dispensing your advice, if nobody has any kids now as they cant afford it, who will do all the jobs as your generation retires ?

Your going on like you've done the world a favour by having kids, and should be rewarded for it. You made the choice to have children, it wasn't forced upon you. Shock horror, having kids isn't cheap! Just like having a mortgage round your neck, its your choice to do so, you don't need a chrystal ball to know its gonna hit your wallet.

What people are rightly annoyed about is that the very people that are having their CB removed are the very people who are contributing disproportionately to society.
Successive governments have milked the 'middle classes' this is just another example of this.

Where did I ask for a reward or claim I had done the planet a favour ?
All parents want is some acknowledgement of the additional expense, the tax and benefits system is meant to even things up "a little", the premise is that society and the human race kind of needs people to have kids or we die out, that may or may not be a good idea.
Basically we exist and there is some cost to living, we need somewhere to live whilst we exist so ineviatably we need to buy or rent somewhere, we can only make decisions based on our current situation, resources and anticipated situation, everything is fluid and nobody has a "Chrystal Ball", do you know you will be able to pay your mortgage in 12 months, everything in life is a bit of a calculated gamble, i know a bloke who never takes any and he still lives with his mum and dad, not married, no kids.
This feels very similar to the old "You dont pay Road Tax" that people trot out when they happen upon someone on a push bike.
people need to think of the wider society, not just their own situation, they need to remember things liek all the big companies paying min wage and no tax, hmm, who tops up the low wages, who provides the roads to transport stuff around, who provides the people to work for min wage, all very cynical these days.

Don't kid yourself, in 20 years time there will be no such thing as a state pension. That's why I've got my own, I'd never rely on hand outs from the government.

This is a daft point to make. I don't think anyone believes that child benefit remotely covers the cost of having children, and plays absolutely no part in people deciding to have kids or not.
What people are rightly annoyed about is that the very people that are having their CB removed are the very people who are contributing disproportionately to society.
Successive governments have milked the 'middle classes' this is just another example of this.

The state educates children and keeps them healthy (or trys to at any rate), which is not cheap, as a starter.
It beats me why anybody gets pin money for having kids. I'd be embarrased to take handouts from the state. I'm all for allowing people to keep more of their earnings (i.e. tax them less) as this would be fair to everybody (who actually bothers to work).
