Have you asked David about the e-mail, before posting that on here?

If not, posting the above without getting his story is a bit much (IMO)

I have seen good and bad reviews of Andy Carrs work but considering I have now used his services twice with NO issues I would have no issue using him again or recommending him to friends

I also hope this doesn't get deleted as I want people to know the truth

It's too easy to hide behind your reputation and have everyone else stroke your ego

I haven't spoken to David and don't see it as a bit much myself, I bit my tongue and did things the pleasant way when I bought the car and he messed me about then

Awesome OP quoted for posterity. The Authorised Advertisers have some snazzy thing that alerts them whenever their name is mentioned on SNet so no doubt David will be along when he next logs on

If David wanted him to avoid the car then by all means tell the guy that contacted him so, BUT don't tell lies and make assumptions about a car you haven't seen in 6+ months

Ummmmmm, everyone is entitled to their opinion, and it sounds to me like David has expressed his, at the end of the day he is saying he can't recommend it, and if thats the way he feels then thats fair enough.

The bloke that forwarded the email had no business doing so, it's a private conversation, and maybe he is trying to use it as a bargaining chip or has an axe to grind himself, he should have kept the information to himself and if still interested in the car just go to view and make his own mind up, NOT get the spoon out and start stirring.

going by your own reply surely the Dealer could have taken that exact same advice, not said anything and told the buyer to go and visit and determine for themselves?

I have never had my Spec D mapped, but reading threads like this, it seems that lots of mappers are considered to be chocolate mappers.

Is this really the case?

using it as a bargaining chip won't work, and I think the guy is a little far away to use API without a very long journey there when there are specialists nearer David is entitled to his opinion and I agree with that BUT he shouldn't lie or make assumptions about a car he has not seen in a long period of time

Sorry mate but I totally disagree with this, read the email again. Some of the comments are out of order IMO.

So do you think he should have forwarded the email to the seller?

if you want your car mapped then a quick search on here will bring loads back for you to choose from. I've used Andy Carr twice and know people who have had their cars mapped by him too with no issues.

mapping is as much down to the general health of your engine as it is down to the mapper

They all have to start somewhere and there are lots of variables when it comes to tuning and mapping cars and many, many reasons they go pop.

Nope, he should of taken what David said with a pinch of salt and viewed the car anyway to make his own mind up. Doesn't make the wording in the email right though, very unprofessional IMO.

Never had any dealings with API , but only heard good reviews about them. They were my first choice for a engine rebuild, but now i am confused.
I have had a tapping noise from my car for 9 month, and i would of put money on it that its valve clearance , or from that area.
I have paid £450 to have it checked and timming belt done , and the company said all valve clearances and cams were spot on. I am getting someone else to look at it tomorrow , and if it turns out to be what i think it is , the company will be named and shamed.

So you asked buyers to contact API for info on the car and now don't like the info that has been given.

I would say you've done many things to the car by your own admission:
Fitted a Decat centre section
Fitted a different backbox =Afterbuner backbox
Strut brace
Flaps
Remap
Set up of Boost controller

two of these done incorrectly are going to kiss the engine goodbye.

API have simply said they don't trust the mapper, this may be down to previous issues or fixing the results of his mapping.

How can you ask someone to recommend a car that they haven't seen for 6 months?? I know I wouldn't.

With regards to the tyres being bald. Can you confirm those wheels were on the car at the time of mot? Did you not inspect the car at the of collection??

I seem to remember the car being very cheap at the time and was priced to sell due to it's condition.

You clearly have some sour grapes with API but to jump on a forum without complaining to them first is a bit off

So not a total disagreement then.

I'll be interested to hear the reply with regards the comments about the paint work and the changing of "many things" and how he knows about these things on a car he's not seen for 6 months.

Anyway brightened may evening up, beer and crisps ready.

This blew up a while back with various people posting the contents of PM's in to public threads, the Mods didn't seem to have a problem with it
