David @ API

I don't expect anyone will do anything, and it is the choice of every individual as to who does the work on their car.
I'm glad you base your choice on feedback but surely you would wish to hear the good AND the bad?

I would say that if it was worth mentioning, it was worth mentioning when it happened. Please don't add any more fuel to this particular fire. If you want to raise the issue, I'd suggest you start another thread. I daresay the OP would probably agree with me, aggrieved or not by API.

The fact is that 99% of people who have major issues with certain tuners don't dare speak out, mainly due to the back lash they get from that persons followers. When someone does have the ***** to stand up and say "hey, this company is a joke" etc etc they get made to look like a fool from the people kissing said company's ****.
Every tuner has good and bad reviews but the bad ones never (or very rarely) get mentioned in public forums. What David has done to the OP is wrong, regardless to what anyone thinks so why shouldn't we all know about it, it allows other Impreza enthusiasts to make an informed decision when they require work. They are able to see the good reviews to ofcourse. I've heard many horror stories about API, stories that were not mentioned in public, mainly because of the hassle and grief it brings. Me, personally, I wouldn't let David rebuild my lawn mower let alone my pride and joy, but that's my choice, my opinion. Others in this thread have had great work done by him so why wouldn't you defend him, it's natural to do that and I'd do the same if my chosen tuner was in this situation.
But sometimes chaps, people make mistakes and wheather your friends, lovers, partners or whatever, you need to realize that.

Reminds me of an issue I had with an API rebuild/upgrade several years ago. I was told that having the engine uprated to 325 bhp is something they did on a regular basis (MY00) and that they'd be no issues as such, I ended up with considerably less than 325 bhp due to drastic engine hesitation. A bleed valve was fitted (charged for) to limit boost after being told the ecu was faulty or the mapping was wrong (outsourced by them to ZEN). I took to Zen who checked the map,*nosed around and fixed the problem with a 3 port boost solenoid. Not what I'd have expected having spent thousands on a car. Fed up of hearing the default fanboy response on here regarding anything negative with API.
Completely put me off modding a car, not done it since.

I haven't read the whole thread and my experience with him and his business doesn't concern a remap, but brakes.
I wouldn't trust David as far as I could throw him. And I'd be prepared to say that, with evidence, in court.
