Does anyone with an i5 suffer from turn by turn navigation not having any sound. Sometimes I start it and sound just doesn’t work. Other times I have started a route and first few instructions come through fine but then they just stop?? Very strange.

Pmsl at all the android and Microsoft fanboys jumping on everything to try to ridicule Apple. ![Lol1](images/smilies/lol1.gif)
My work laptop running windows 7 is always downloading updates for the OS and for various program's running on it.
Who cares? If the people that hate Apple stuff so much aren't using Apple stuff then why do they care if the software needs updating or not
You don't like Apple stuff, we get it. Other people do like Apple stuff, get over it and enjoy the products you use and like.

Yes Jay, I do.
15% of all iOS devices updated in less than 24 hours. In 5 days over 25% of the 410M iOS devices ever sold were running iOS6.
Android Jelly Bean was installed on 1.5% of all devices in 2 months. Ice Cream Sandwich is still only at 20% after over a year.
Apple are equally as good at updating their PC's. Uptake of Mountain Lion was equally as stunning, the envy of OS developers.
Producing the hardware and software is the only way you'll ever achieve this. Hopefully Microsoft can adapt to this model and give you Apple haters some of the benefit.

Making an OS for 5 different devices doesn't compare to rewriting an OS for 200 different devices. Every Phone manufacturer has to update the OS for different phones and carriers, the basic OS comes out with the new phones not the old obsolete stock that barely has the hardware to run it. Similar to why Apple doesn't update the older Iphone models beyond a certain point.
As for PC's then we are talking maybe 10 different devices compared to billions of different Windows PC's. Apple isn't better at doing something, it just has a way easier job, so standards should be MUCH MUCH higher as they have every machine available that the OS will ever run on, Microsoft don't even have a fraction of the machines to test on.
Apple have a complete captive audience and have very limited backwards compatibility issues, have limited hardware to test on so IMHO should get it right first time. A lot of Microsoft updates are also to resolve problems with Piracy and hackers finding exploits, so again, they have a much harder job than Apple.

Well despite Apple only having to test their OS on a relatively few home grown devices, it seems that they still can't get it right. To add to the many bugs and flaws that already exist with their latest phone, there now seems to be issues it's screen. A glitch in the screen means that rapid diagonal swipes can hang or suffer lag when scrolling or playing games. This latest glitch does not occur with the 4S with iOS 6.0.1 which suggests that it is hardware and unlikely to be fixed with an update. On top of that the UK courts have ordered Apple to pay Samsung's legal cost in the recent case they lost and the continued tumbling of it's share price, you could almost feel sorry for Apple.

Wow what an ridiculous comparison...

What it highlights is that the ecosystem of Apple is a far better choice if you want to stay up to date.

I wouldn't call it ridiculous. Each of the vendors has the same time to get the update out, they don't do one then move on to the next, they all have their own staff.
What it highlights is that the ecosystem of Apple is a far better choice if you want to stay up to date.

Each of the Vendors does have the same time, but they spend development costs on newer models, they know that people upgrade their devices on a regular basis (Even Apple owners have to swap to the latest model everytime it is launched) so longevity of the older devices is only really important to people who keep or buy older models. Why would HTC (say) spend money upgrading an older Wildfire when they can spend the cash upgrading the latest One X which is a current model? The flip side is that Apple have far better resale values, one reason I would switch to Apple, as TBH any Android model has a sucky resale value after 12-18 months compared to an Iphone.
In essence they have both chosen different business models, just because the Apple model suits you, doesn't mean it is good for everyone or better. Whatever you say about windows, you can still run windows on a Mac, why would that functionality be needed if the Mac is superior to a PC?
This whole Mac vs PC and Apple vs Android thing is no different to the 100's of different fanboi arguments that have raged for years about technology products, you may as well be arguing PS3 vs Xbox 360... The users of both just need to realise that both serve similar markets but not identical, and just because their device suits their needs it doesn't make it a better device. In essence it is no different to a Jew, Christian or Muslim arguing that their god is better than each others. All achieve the same end (belief in a fictional entity thru a need to believe there is something after death) but they go about it with a different "operating system", and much like religion, many of us don't want to have that "operating system" shoved in their face and told it is better than what we currently use.
They used to say that in life there are only 2 certainties, Death and Taxes, but there is another certainty, that is any new software will have bugs that require fixing. I don't knock any software company for that, including Apple, but then I don't deify them either.
