This has made some very interesting reading.

Most people seem to have their heads screwed on correctly.

The way I see it is; there is a time and a place for everything. I work shifts and regually travel light night/early morning and I do enjoy the dead roads BUT if I do happen to get caught I would through my hands up and take the punishment (ooh er).

I'm not one for driving really fast anyway but I do LOVE getting up to speed as fast as possible.

I do agree with the point of imposing engine limits etc to young drivers, I could have done with that, having a 180bhp Escort RS Turbo at 19. And yes I will admit I did drive that like a tit and it was the only car that I have had a prang in, which did slow me down.

You do have to take responsibility for your own actions (in general not just driving) and I believe that the lack of this is "whats wrong with this country".

Well that was quick got my court date today for the 23rd of this month and as suspected there is a few little white lies to make it sound worse.... Like one min he's saying the roads were clear (which they were) the next page he saying I over took a fair few cars... And he clocked me @ 100 at 1146 feet away..... How accurate is the speed with something that's moving away from u ??????

Typical copper, he's trying to screw you so you get a ban. Don't do anything until youv spoken to a solicitor & use a specialist in driving offences.

Sorry, Im not disputing what you say as I know this is not the first time this sort of thing has happened. I just cannot understand why the police do this. What have they got to gain?

Probably on some power crazed ego trip getting a thrill out of causing someone as much grief as possible for daring to break the law of the land. I actually have some friends who are coppers & they always brag about who they have nicked & how they made sure they felt the full force of the law. Thing is they break the low as much as the next man but always seem to get away with it. Never really hear them bragging about catching a real criminal though.

Well I was using the term friends in it's loosest possible sense. If youv known people all your life you don't stop talking to them because of a poor career choice, someone's got to talk to the poor b######s, just never talk to them about cars or driving LOL

I would have to agree that I don't think that 100 mph in many modern cars is a dangerous speed (on motorways & in the right conditions).


Speed limits were introduced many decades ago. This was a typical car of the year that the 70mph limit was enforced.



Anyone who can't identify the huge advances in tyres, suspension, chassis's and brakes would need to be a special kind of stupid.

If the huge car manufacturers feel that there cars can do 155 mph safely, then 100 mph (on motorways & in the right conditions) is NOT dangerous.

It's the driver's lack of experience in judging speeds in mirrors, braking distances and general observing that is the problem with 100 mph.


If that Morris (in the picture) was doing 70 mph and an M3 (for example) was doing 100 mph the M3 would stop in a shorter distance.

As Above, you need to be represented by a solicitor, this is very important, do not try to represent yourself.

I learnt this lesson the hard way when I got accused of speeding, 48 in a 40 limit on a hand held radar devise. Basic magistrates court appearance and so I would defend myself with some photo's of the stretch of road the alleged incident took place to prove that I was in a dip at the distance the Police Officer said he had detected my speed and that he had actually caught the bloke in the car in front of me. The Policeman actually stopped us both, took one look at me (a thirty year old) and one look at the pensioner in front, let him go on his way and wrote me the ticket.

So I had my day in court where I told the Magistrates that the Policeman was mistaken about me being the offending driver and that the car in front of me on that day that was being driven by the pensioner was accelerating away from me when the alleged incident took place and that at the distance the Police Officer had said I was caught, I was in a dip in the road and would not have been visible to the Officer and had taken a series of photographs of the area to prove it.

Well this will be easy I thought.

The bloody CPS protested that the photo's were inadmissible as they had had no prior knowledge of them and the Police Officer stood in front of the Magistrates and lied his bollocks off saying that it was definitely my car he had detected, but that he must have been mistaken about the distance at which my speed was recorded. Lying F*CK.

Without a solicitor I didn't stand a chance and got a fine, had to pay court costs and had points on my license.

Now when I find myself being involved with the Police for any reason what so ever, the first thing I do is phone my legal representatives and arrange for them to represent me in the very first instance and have got away with a lot worse because I've had a solicitor present.

It's a must!
